I called today saying that i applied before nov 1st and still didn’t hear back asking if I should be worried…and the lady said she completely understands but just not to worry because they have soooo many applicants they simply haven’t gone through all of them yet. I’m so nervous but trying to be positive

To those of you who are interviewing for the Distinction, I received a email congratulating me as a Distinction finalist and my interview time. Did anyone else get this? Does this mean I received the Distinction or that I’m competing for it?

Does anyone know how the distinction interview goes down and what they ask? It’s only 15 minutes so it’s a bit jam packed and related to diversity and such, so I’m unsure.

I cannot give you the particulars of the MSP interview, my D received one of the lower level MSP scholarships with no interview. But I can give you advice on interviews in general.

  1. This interview is worth a lot of money. Therefore do your homework and be prepared.
  2. Go to the MSP website and look at their mission statement, goals, etc. Educate your self about who they are, what they are looking for, etc. Also ask for input from others as you are doing on this forum.
  3. You only have 15 minutes it sounds like to present your best case for why you should get the scholarship.
  4. Write down your talking points prior to the interview, make sure you know what material you want to cover. Do not ramble, you do not have much time. Make your points short unless they ask for elaboration.
  5. Go in with confidence and humility, they are impressed with you or you would not have gotten this far in the process. On the other hand, it is not over until it is over, so be prepared, and give it your best shot.
  6. Good luck to all the finalists. To be one of the MSP Distinction Scholars is quite an honor and prestigious on campus. (Keep this in mind in the interview, they are looking for students who will comport themselves well and represent the best of OSU).

If we haven’t heard anything back about this scholarship, we haven’t gotten anything, correct? Seeing as how all the offer dates have passed.
