NYU 2008 Transfer

I’m a freshman and got accepted as a transfer candidate this year with a 3.32

i have a friend who into cas transfer with a 3.25

Has anyone else heard anything from Gallatin yet?

Yeah–I heard from Gallatin a little over a week ago. Softy, sorry I meant Gallatin not CAS GPA. Thus, I can’t gauge my GPA to CAS accepted GPA’s.

pcristiani, sorry I was asking when did you submit your application and materials to NYU? I also applied to Stern in late February so I’m wondering when I should be expecting the letter…btw, I’m also awaiting the exciting Berkeley decisions…but I am aware that as an out of state my chances are .000001%

I called this morning. They said letters go out on a rolling basis starting tomorrow. I also tried that net id thing. Whereas before today I couldnt get on, today it took me to my id name. I did not go any further

I keep on getting “Only current members of the NYU community are eligible to use this function”…

Do Not Use Your Net Id Before You Have Received An Acceptance Letter. Nyu Takes This Very Seriously!
It’s Not Worth The Risk!
Try To Be Patient

I didnt use it, just saw it. Does that mean I am in trouble?

ob15, NYU has already made decisions on the majority of the applications. I don’t think they’re going to pull out the decisions now and reject people just because they try to log in. Besides, if they don’t want people logging in beforehand, they need to take out that function.

I hear what you’re saying but people shouldn’t try to cheat the system. Wait for the letter to come and if accepted go set up your id. look back at the forum on cc about nyu user id, you’ll understand why I am saying this.

Iwill. I didnt know it was a problem. DSomeone told me to check it out. Can the fact that I checked it out affect the decision? I won’t do it again of course

geez people, chill out. They won’t reject you just because you try to login. Of course, they don’t like it because people can find out the decision before they get an official letter (and what if they change their mind about an acceptance before sending the letter and decide to reject, while you already got into the system…or something like that). I can see why they don’t want people doing that but it doesn’t mean they will punish you for that…

actually they get pretty ****ed at people who do that. that’s the only reason i haven’t tried it thus far. i’ve been extremely tempted to but the fact that nyu stated there would be consequences has been enough to scare me from doing so. nyu actually posted in cc about this. there’s a link to the thread somewhere but i don’t know where it is.

NYU posted here and said that they will not reject you from doing so, but that some repurcussions may be considered

And they didn’t release any official statement… there is a very little percentage of students who actually read threads on CC so what about the rest who have no idea about CC…

they probably wouldnt know about the net id backdoor anyway lol

at least i wuldnt have known about with this site

haha seriously…CC has all the inside info. imagine what the transfer process would be like for us without it!

well, i knew about that even without CC…cuz i was searching for a way to login and see my application status and came across nyu login…:)

Just to let you guys and gals know, NYU admissions has thier own forums page where you can post questions and whatnot. Whenever I cross reference information I see here on CC against NYU’s official forums (answered by NYU admission counselors) there is usually an inaccuracy here at CC. Just be careful and be clever about what you take here for fact.

With that said, NYU does know about the net id thingamajig and they did post something here about it specifically. I’m too tired to go and find it and post the link, i have a paper to write.
