NYU 2008 Transfer

i applied to stern as well. apparently my decision was made last week…but i called today and they told me stern is the one school that is really behind. the woman told me barely any have been sent out yet or processed, though most decisions have been made. she said everyone should know by the end of next week.

i feel like they just keep extending their notification time.

:</p>

Here’s my stats:
4.0 GPA college, honors program, multiple EC activities, valedictorian, average high school record
Rejected from Stern

akp–can you log in to netid?

Does anyone know last year’s stats for students who were accepted after nyu requested to see their spring grades?

weird they never asked for my spring grades
nor do i plan to send them in. not yet at least.

i got a, b, c, d. lol

blackhole, were you wait listed? I was wait listed and they asked me to send my spring grades.

no, not yet. i’m still hopeful though. has anyone, who has not been officially accepted to stern, been able to log into netid? also…were the people who were requested to send midyears (by may 1st) also asked to submit final transcripts? i was requested for the former, not the latter.

they requested my midterm grades by may 1st but not my final grades… and i have yet to be able to log in to the net id which i do not believe is good … but they said my decisinon was made last week and i should find out by this week …by the way i am a Stern hopeful !!

They requested my midterm grades but not the official spring transcript. I just called and they said all decisions were made and that i should know by friday… but I still cant log into NetID thing…

A common theme throughout every transfer thread is incongruous information from admissions.

They had requested my final spring transcript and just told me today that my decision will be made in the next few days.

Hey Guys! Like you, I really want to attend NYU and I already turned in my application for Spring 2009. Just wanted to get your feedback:

High School:
GPA: 3.51 :[[[
SAT: 1220 :[[[
With AP: English, Biology, Econ, Government, Psych, Spanish, US History.
EC: Student Government, Water Polo/Swimming, Senate.
I was top 15 percent of my school.
As you can tell I really messed up in High School.

College:

This is my first year and I am taking many units during summer school.
GPA: 3.7
I already took Calc I and Critical English/Argumentative Writing

EC: Phi Theta Kappa, Student Government (committees, senate), Soccer, Scholars Honors Club, Working 30 Hours/Week, Psychology Club (next semester), YMCA Volunteering.

The THing Is my first semester I messed up and got a 3.0, but I worked really hard and I will have a 3.7 by the end of this summer session (so far 4.0). I already accumulated 56 units.

I was also already denied last year applying as a freshman.

Do you think admissions will see I took so many units and take that into consideration?

I’ve been in college for one whole year and I am going to start my second after summer semester.

I applied to CAS.

AHHHHH what do you think?

Is it easier to get into the spring semester?

Also I made sure they knew I am Nicaraguan and my parents were “torn from their country” and forced to start anew.

Will this help me?

^^^ I think you’re in at CAS. They say if you have more than a year (30 credits) your HS stuff is only of modest importance. Also, your HS stats aren’t even that bad. People with FAR worse HS stats have made it into NYU. I really don’t think that matter much for transfer students with more than two semesters of work.

The early 3.0 might raise a few eyebrows, but I think colleges understand that there can be a culture shock early on. They’ll probably request a mid-year report. Make sure you have your grades up. 3.7 is consider the magic number.

I’m not sure about the whole spring semester thing, but I don’t think they’ll be as selective as they were this fall. That was ridiculous

serenityhope

hey no they didnt ask for my spring grades…

i received my rejection letter from Stern day before yesterday.
CC - GPA -3.73 on 80 credits - Allpre-reqs and Morse Acadmeic program completed.

Mixtec, did you have a lot of extracurricular activities and many recommendation letters? What were the specifics of your application? Did you take challenging classes?

Yes…I had a lot of ec’s but no internship.
I have taken both 100 and 200 classes. Perhaps, I understimated the competition. I had two letters of recommendation. I am a Mixtec (or what in contemporary times you call Aztecs). Apart from Spanish and English, I also speak the indigenous language of Nahuatl.

Does receiving a phone call from an admissions officer asking for spring grades a good thing? I got a call yesterday, did anyone else get one?

I received my admission from stern today ^^

I called the office and tried to squeeze and answer out of them. They said the mail was on the way. But I’m leaving on friday and won’t be home for a month so I asked them what should I do if I don’t get the mail by friday. They said call back on wednesday. Oh well looks like i’m waiting for the mail then.

Can you log onto net id vicky? I couldn’t log on to it. I wonder what that means…
