In previous years Columbia likes releasing it on a Thursday, giving those accepted from the waitlist a week to get back to them, and releasing another wave next Friday after they get responses from them. Sometimes they also like doing Fridays first. I have a feeling they will release the first wave at the end of this week (since in some years they released a few days before the 15th) , if not the end of next week.

Wow, just like Princeton they release waitlist offers so early this year. Well, looks like I’m staying in Michigan after all.

Hm, I’m sort of suspicious about that, only because in past years they’ve emailed students who were accepted off the waitlist, not called. Maybe he was accepted differently because of the video? God, I hope doing something cheesy like that didn’t actually work…
EDIT: read through the thread and it seems he was called early because of the video. The admissions officer told him he’d be getting an email on Friday, so I assume that’s when the first wave will be sent out.

I called admissions today and he said the committee for waitlist is still meeting about the wait list. I don’t think waitlist decision have been made yet except for a select few.

I assume the first wave will be released this Friday, and they may be making calls to some people until then to tell them the good news…?

@ModiModi maybe they’re doing things differently this year or it’s not true…? They usually call before sending you an email with an update to your portal though, but sometimes it could be just an email. Regardless I think the first wave of portal update emails will be released this Friday
I just spoke to the admissions office and they said that no one from China has been accepted yet!

@ModiModi I have a friend in china who also got waitlisted by Columbia. She didn’t hear from Columbia tho, but some of her friends did.
