@iDizzle do you think it matters what GPA you have to be selected to
Compete for the UCLA Regent’s Scholarship? Like for me for instance.

HELLLLPPPPPP PLEASEEEEE!

Hey can somebody help me out?

So I TAGed to UCI as a Psychology and Social Behavior Major, but when I applied to UCI they only gave me the option of selecting “Psychology” as a major so I did. However, I requested to change majors from Psychology to PSB and they approved it. So it says I am being considered for PSB. Does this mean my TAG was voided? I mean that is what i TAGed for but it wouldn’t give me the option when applying. So I hope it hasn’t been voided.

@ ccgreen032: Yes I believe the Regents scholarship is GPA based. Even FAFSA requires a certain GPA to be eligible.

@ kahtootah: UCI only accepts TAG by major. So if your major was not participating in TAG than you would not be eligible for TAG. If PSB was not one of them, than you’d better call.

@GSG900 thanks for the chance! So far accepted to all that I’ve heard back from! (UCR, UCSC, UCSD)

Major: History
Transfer G.P.A: 3.91
Major G.P.A: 4.0
All major prereq completed
IGETC: Completed

Work Experience:
Work full-time

EC:
Volunteered at local community theatre

Personal statement:
Rushed it the night before it was due, though I did have a couple of people edit it.

Other:
First-generation American

I’m worried about my lack of EC’s and my personal statement

I forgot to mention that I’ve applied to LA and Davis

Chance me
I applied transfer to UCSD major in International Studies-Economics, and still waiting.

Transfer GPA : 3.70
Major GPA : 4.0
Major prerequisite courses : completed
IGETC : will be completed by spring 2013
TAG : yes

based on this objective information, do you guys think I can get acceptance?

I’m just worried because they keep rejections until the last.

Chance me
Major: cultural anthro
GPA 3.5
Major gpa:4.0

applied: UCLA,UCB, UCSD, UCSC, UCM, UCI, UCSB (rejected), UCR (accepted)
I’m taking my transferable math now

Please chance me!

Major: Linguistics
Transfer GPA: 4.0
Major G.P.A: 4.0
Major prereq courses: All but one (I was supposed to take four semesters of a foreign language, but my CC didn’t offer a fourth semester of french)
IGETC: Completed
Work: Part time 20 hours a week
EC: Nothing too enticing…a few volunteer hours here and there & nothing having to do with my major (although that’s a bit hard to find)

I’m waiting on Cal & UCLA. The missing prereq is for UCLA, and although linguistics is not an impacted major I know that they take prereqs pretty seriously…so nervous :’(

@ abbbyabs: You’ve got a good chance at LA. Avg admitted GPA was a 3.61 so you’re close. I’d say you’ve got a good shot at the others as well, maybe not Cal though. Yes taking your last math class right now will be a problem. Did you take Calc and CS for UCI?

@ weirdough: You’ve got a great chance. With a 4.0 did you really need to know? Of course having all prereqs will make you more competitive but if your school doesn’t offer it than it’s not a big deal.

@idizzle

IDK what CS is.
I completed my prerequisites. Stats is the only trans. math I have, and I’m talking it now.
I had a very weak start my first year and a half at CC with a low 2.5 gpa, but these last 3 semesters I’ve gotten straight A’s and retook some classes I did poorly in.

I explained all that in my P.S.

19 days left to find out. Have any other transfers heard from schools besides UCSB or UCR?

@abby cs: computer science

lol…thanks

@abby. I’m an anthropology major (3.54 gpa)emphasizing in Biological anthropology and I’ve been accepted at UCSC and UCSD. Also, I’m completing statistics this semester. You should be good for UCM, UCSD, UCSC. Cal, LA and irvine are a big reach.

@ abbbyabs: Yeah, what mermaker said, Computer Science. Last time I checked, UCI for anthro requires Calculus and the equivalent of Java. I took C++(since it was a prereq to Java) and Java but I did not have Calc. I got waitlisted for UCI last year but eventually got accepted by the skin of my teeth. lol. I was rejected form Berkeley though. Got accepted to 11 out of the 12 schools I applied to. LOL

Chances me for ucsb & ucsc? So far ive gotten a UCR acceptance

Major: Bio
Transfer GPA: 3.09
Major GPA: 3.17
for ucsb most of prereqs done except for physics 10b and organic chem
IGETC: Completed

EC:
very strong extra circulars from high school but very little from past 2 years

Personal statement:
Not very good

Other: Im a minor (indian asian)

Chance me if you have a minute?
My Number 1 is UCLA, Number 2 is UCSD. I was already accepted to UCSB.

I’m transfering at Junior standing, though I have 1 year at CSUMB and 2 years at a CCC. I am a Fine Arts major.
GPA: 3.5
Major GPA: 4.0
IGETC: Completed
Prereq’s: Completed
Personal Statement: Terrific! I had my boss (who is an ex-councelor at UCSD look it over) and she gave me a huge thumbs up.
EC’s: - Lots of community service in high school, now I work primarily with my church.
- I work 30-35 hours a week in a management position.
- Phi Theta Kappa
- Dean’s list since 2010
- Set Designer in high school for 5 years straight

Ahhhh this waiting is making me lose my mind!!

@Liz3125

Are you an art history major or an studio art major?

@ Kay1541: Liz said “fine art” so I’m assuming Art major.

@Liz3125: …Which I that case, UCLA’s avg gpa for Art is a 3.45/3.56(Design). So you are on the border and have a good chance. Good luck!
