no calls today; i think it is too soon and the numbers are too close
my counselor said they are looking at small wait list acceptances
question – if it is based on demographics so much, what regions have a better/worse chance than others?! – does anyone know?!

i really think it all depends on what states are not represented out of all of the people who have committed there so far. so it probably varies each year. i’d imagine that the states that share a counselor with four or so other states probably are more underrepresented than regions like southern california, that only share a counselor with Puerto Rico and probably have many more applicants to begin with and therefore more admits and more confirms. which is unfortunate for me since i am from socal.

hahaha wow im from socal too…could the odds be MORE against me at this point?

socal here too -__________- waaah

Yep. No calls today. Maybe tomorrow, maybe Saturday. Maybe a week from now. I imagine that someone would recieve a call by a week from this Saturday. But alas, we will see. To offer the words of St. Paul: “Fight the good fight of faith”. Good luck and God bless.

thanks for the info hoping for the best for you socal peoplee
im ohio (cool…i know), thoughts on my state?
out of my school, 4 were accepted and only 1 is attending, i was put on the waiting list, and 1 other was rejected
would they call on a saturday? or keep it to business days?!
Hope we all have the Luck of the Irish :)

I imagine that they would wait until a weekday. If 3/4 people from your school turned them down, maybe that’s a good sign for you.

I hope you have much better luck than that…

*If you had the luck of the Irish
You’d be sorry and wish you were dead
You should have the luck of the Irish
And you’d wish you was English instead!

Last year they seemed to have made calls on Saturdays, but it was only as a complement to finish off the calls they made on Thursday and Friday before. Since there were no calls today or yesterday, I think it’s fairly safe to say that there will be no calls tomorrow.

My counselor just emailed me back and said they haven’t made any decisions and they will I’ve a better picture next week. This isn’t the best news ever but it’s better than them bot going to it at all… Have faith. I just keep emailing them and praying. Thats all we can do right now

NDnick17: what region are you from?

I have bad news… My admissions counselor sent me an email today at 2, basically telling me it looks as if they will not be going to the waitlist this year. Here is a direct quote:

“…More spots have already been filled this year than in any previous year. It is doubtful if all currently enrolled freshmen stick with their decisions to come to Notre Dame that we will have to go to the waitlist…”

It sounds as if the waitlist won’t be used this year. My only hope right now is that currently enrolled freshmen end up getting off a waitlist at a different school, and then decide to enroll there instead.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news though… :(

hmmm… i strongly dislike how everyone seems to be hearing different things. hard to know what to believe.

There’s a thread here where someone got off the Duke waitlist and is going there instead; perhaps similar things are happening with many others, too.

Good luck, everyone. Hopefully some of you get off and all of you end up where you will be happy.

I tend to be optimistic in this regard because I don’t know that there’s any other option, but I’d imagine that if Notre Dame was more selective than any other year, they will have more of the top students and will be competing with more top schools. I’d imagine that those accepted in the incoming class would at least be waitlisted at any of the top universities in the country, including the Ivies. Thus, there will probably be a fair amount of shifting around because lots of committed students will be offered spots to other places. Keep in mind also that Notre Dame probably really wants to go to its waitlist for all the practical reasons of controlling size, but also because they want people who want Notre Dame.

Toast8152, I sure hope you’re right, but regardless, they put more people and the waitlist this year than any other year, and are probably taking less people off it than any other year. So chances of getting off are looking pretty impossible right now ): The only thing that does give me hope is that last year, it seems like the counselor say that there is little room, yet take a decent number of people off anyway. I don’t know if they say there is little chance of even going to the waitlist though

I’m from Indiana

@iRiSH33 unfortunately I wasn’t taken off stanford’s waitlist so I’m going to Notre Dame. Best of luck though!

Is there a good chance that ND will make calls starting today?

I think any guess as to when at this point is valid. I do think that because they said they spent most of last week reviewing numbers, they will probably be looking at applications at some point this week. So I’d say closer to Thursday and Friday. I imagine by the end of this week, someone will get a call, but I suppose we’ll see. Best of luck to all.

Been lurking for a little while and finally decided I would post. What a month and a half this has been! We too are wait-listed (from NJ) and hoping for good news. I see a lot of speculation about if and when they will call, but who really knows at this point? Anyway, I reiterate the sentiment that has been expressed here many times - best of luck to all!
