Official Sept. 16 ACT Reflection

I don't complain much but here I go: I took the ACT today w/ bronchitis. It sucked.

yea i know i put creep first but then i erased it b/c of the following sentence...don't remember what it said though

I put creep, it is more analagous to way writers depict growing plants. I don't think personification by using tread fits here (or there rather).

MATH:
It factored into (a+b)(2x+y)(2x-y).

So possible factors are a+b,2x+y,2x-y.or (2x-y)(2x+y)=4x^2-y^2.

So 2a+b is not a factor.

sinx(1-cosx)=sinx
-> (sinx-1)(1-cosx)=0
-> sinx=1,cosx=1, at 0, pi/2,pi, 3pi/2

The answer to the growth one was definitely 9.1(1+r/100)^n

The answer to that a,b,c,d one was b not equal to c, since 4=c+d, but c isn't equal to 0, so d can't equal 4 or b.

ENGLISH:

Was it past, past by, passed, passed by for the question about the guy in the bike?

There was this one phrase that had no commas, right? "ing and ing and __ing and tapping

READING
Didn't the japanese poem's use of emotion make it distressing, not comprehensible?

It was definitely creep.

SCIENCE:

The moon and lenses one.....that was like s=5, rright?

Any math questions, ask.... but first reply to my questions, please

Oh yeah, I think it was weaken scientist two for 2 questions, right?

Did anybody have a question on the whirlwind reading that had ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with the reading. I'm sure it was a mistake because it talked about beech nuts and stuff... which had nothing to do with that passage. Am I missing something or should I call them and tell them about it?

No, it was on purpose. It was about how when one whirlwind occurs, many are likely to occur. So you needed to apply that thinking to another aspect, so the answer was something about when one tomato ripens they are all likely to ripen around that time.

Whirlwind passages:
The whirwhinds occur at similar times b/c the ground is uniformly hot, so similarly, the tomato seeds all sprout when the soil is warm enough.

lol, yeah, wierd question: I was thrown off by the beech nuts.

Oh, woops... I skimmed through that passage because I was running out of time... thanks

I think the japanese poem question was deffinately not distressing:

I narrowed it down to comprehensible and imaginative

Since the whole point of the passage was that the imaginative part comes from within each reader, I thought that evocative pertained to its brevity, in that it used a small amount of words to create an emotional message.

meanvaluetheorem, I got all the same math answers.

I answered comprehensible for the Japanse poem, I don't remember exactly why now because I don't remember the whole question.

I put 200 for s for the moon one, but that was a guess. How were you supposed to do that?

And I think I agree with your no commas one, too.

I put past for the passed/past one but I'm not sure if that's right. Anyone know?

Once and for all, english was creep and quilt.

Quilt? What question are you talking about? Do you mean glint?

haha about the population prob, i saw the logistics equation and i thought 'wow... so many ppl are gonna get this wrong' because i learned logistics near the end of bc calc. maybe it's just me

did anyone find the last sci passage hard? about lenses and stuff. it was a ***** for me.

What did you guys think about the essay? how much did you guys write?

What was the answer for the french fries question? I picked A, "covered with ketchup symbolizes ripeness."

quilt, what one was that?

And for the moon one, as d increased, s decreased. So if source of light was moon, d is big, so s must be small. So I got 5.

"which word would not be appropriate to substitute glint..."

What passage was that? No one on here knows what you are talking about.

I put comprehensible for the poem because it said it was so evocative that it required little explanation or something like that...and vines definitely creep

Sorry, I am mixed with a practice test I took yesterday.
