thank you 16B2 :)

Accepted! I would like to thank all of you for helping me get through this final week as I was worrying about this all week.

To those of you who have been rejected, I am confident from reading this forum that all of you will end up at an amazing college and do very well.

For you ED2ers and RDers, I will not be sharing my statistics on this forum. I can tell you that I was no where near the top of Swarthmore’s statistics ranges but that is not what matters. I did not think I would get in because my statistics were not good enough. This did not happen, so I would recommend being very clear in your application why you want to go to Swarthmore and what you are passionate about.

Good luck everyone!

tyler- your stats were “nowhere near” swat statistics?.. are you an athletic recruit or a minority? what was your “Why Swarthmore” essay about? im just trying to learn from this experience so i can do better on my RD’s, so please dont take this offensively.

Sadly I was rejected. I was not expecting this… but I am determined to persevere. Good luck to the rest of you.

Well, the letter didn’t come. I don’t know how I’ll survive the wait until Monday…

It’s so hard to hear about all the rejections. I hope you all find a great place. You’ve been so helpful getting me through this week.

tieeris,

No offense taken. My point about statistics is this: I was NOT below Swat statistics, I was just average with class rank and test scores (ACTs were in Swarthmore’s range, but towards the bottom). I wrote my Why Swarthmore? essay about being a nerd and hearing a phrase when I went to Swarthmore that is is “where your inner nerd is your outer nerd.” I included details about how I was looking for an academic experience. As to your question about being an athletic recruit or minority, I am neither. I don’t really have nay special circumstances besides that I’m a first generation college student. I also led NASA rocketry projects and other rocketry projects. I wrote my main essay about this and it taught me where hard work can get you. I related it to a class I took on constitutional law and how I decided I wanted to become a constitutional lawyer and eventually help developing democracies set up just legal systems.

Be yourself and you will do great! Let me know where you end up going on here. Good luck and I hope this helped!

what state do you reside in?

i was expecting to get rejected, so i’m not SO heartbroken, but it’s still obviously really upsetting…to say goodbye to being a swattie…

in any case, i guess it’s best to just move on, although it will take my mind a while to stop googling random facts about swarthmore etc. etc. it’s weird that my rejection is no longer just a surmise, but actually official.

sigh…

@collegeearly: totally with you on that haha. But I’m sure you’ll go to an awesome school anyway. ^^ Where else are you looking?

Any internationals got the email?

yea, I’m British…so I call my mum mum. :)

^^this is the answer to Swat’s question/statement

For all of those who did get in, please DO NOT join the fraudulent “Swarthmore College - 2014” group. It was created in September, and has been found to be a scam.

There is a new group that a Swarthmore student started (and you can verify that). It is called “Swarthmore Class of 2014” and has the group number 213471088128.

wen are the internationals going to receive notifications???..

@mathgeeeek…em frm nepal…u???..pls inform immediately wen u receive urs n i’ll do the same…thnxx

@confusedgirl: Im in china…quite near nepal…well, as soon as i get the notification no matter good or bad, i’ll definitely let u know.

deferred as well … well I’ll just have to wait until April to find out if I got accepted or not.

Does anyone know the percentage of deferred applicants that are admitted?

@treing: I’m guessing that that was directed at me - I’m in Washington (the state, not the city.)

@SprioSpero: I also live in WA, and my letter came yesterday. So yours should be coming tomorrow if it hasn’t come already!

Rejected. Sigh, now to more apps! YAY, haha.

Congrats to all who got in! And those who didn’t, there’s always another college, right? :)
