The Interview Thread for SCEAers!

Same. But it is, though, right? Like, I’m not delusional with some warped sense of morals?

Nikkor50mm, i love you. agree witchoo %100.

@quomodo, you probably don’t mean to argue that asking for test questions is okay, but asking for test questions is not okay.

@imagodei, as much as i love collegeconfidential, i’m not comfortable posting a question i had trouble with so that the thousands of neurotic little kids on this site can freak out about it. i take comfort in convincing myself that there are applicants out there who will also stumble on such a question. i like my comfort.

anyway,

HARRY POTTER 7’s RELEASED CAFE SCENE. EMMA IS SO EPIC WITH HER PETRIFICUS TOTALUS!

Had my interview just a couple of days back, and I wanted to get some opinions on here:
How normal is it for the interview to be more dominated by the interviewer talking about Yale and less about me? We started off the interview by discussing my activities, etc very briefly, but he didn’t ask me to elaborate. He just moved on to talking about other things like a couple of his experiences there. And I wasn’t sure how to subtly come back to discussing my extracurriculars or interests when he had so obviously veered off topic, so the rest of the interview ended up being a discussion on Yale and he asked me to ask him any questions I had.
Is this pretty usual for an interview? And irrespective of whether it is or not, is it an indicator of a bad interview?

JustASenior–It sounds like the person wasn’t a good interviewer, but that doesn’t mean you’ll get a bad rating. In any event, the interview just doesn’t count for that much, so don’t stress.

I encourage people to put questions at the end of this thread which has become the clearinghouse for all interview-related stuff. You might also find some intersting comments over the years. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/yale-university/283957-rd-applicants-interview-advice.html</a></p>

And don’t forget this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/yale-university/804985-alumni-campus-interview-faq.html</a>. It has already been mentioned, but it was a few pages back and it doesn’t look like everyone has seen it.

Good luck, applicants!

Was anybody called to set up an interview instead of emailed?

The two students I interviewed were called by me.

^ That might explain why I haven’t heard anything yet. My phone situation isn’t the greatest. Should I contact someone at Yale to find out if an interview actually has been set up for me, but I just missed the call?

^It wouldn’t hurt.

I don’t know who to contact exactly. The Alumni Schools Committee Coordinator?

Just had a Yale interview (I’m Questbridge, not SCEA but thought I’d share my thoughts anyway) and I really expected to be talking MUCH more. I talked about myself for the first 10 minutes or so, and then as a part of my response, I asked a question, which led to the rest of the interview (45 minutes or so) to listening about Yale. Although I’m sure that’s different with each interviewer. Brought a resume which interviewer asked for in the end to help write the report. So definitely will be bringing resume in all future interviews, even though I know some advise against it. Overall, good though  Shouldn’t have worried as much

Yes I was called.
I thought it was the bloodbank trying to get me to donate AGAIN so my mom’s holding the phone like “it’s for you,” and I go, “who is it,” and she says, “i don’t know,” so i was like, “I don’t wanna answer it–tell them i’m not there”–and she’s just holding the phone out to me like, no, i’m not gonna do that, just answer it quomodo, and i’m like no, i don’t wanna ****ing donate anymore blood. and then i eventually took it after like 30sec of this and it was my yale interviewer… ooops…

Anybody get an interview in the Waukesha County/Milwaukee County area? I’m hoping to get one, even though I already had an interview at the school

S. from Minnesota received interview e-mail today.

Anyone from the Bay Area yet?

AdmissionsAddict - Thanks so much ! I think I can finally breathe now. :P

That is awesome.

@ Quomodo

haha your mom calls you by your CC username, that’s taking it a little bit too far don’t you think? LOL.

If I’m an international student from Canada would I be receiving my interview later on…? Or should I just give up hope altogether? :P

hmmm my friend just got emailed for an interview. We submitted at the same time too. I feel unloved.
