Took a risk and blew it...any hope left?

damn dude how many responses do you need? what are you using random peoples input to boost your self-confidence?

you could stop being a little deuche.

In case you haven’t noticed, I’ve posted in a lot of the chance threads here over the last few days. Most of these posts are people just returning the favor. I was legitimately worried about my chances, and these people have all helped me, I’m not just using them. If you were worried about something, wouldn’t you feel better if people went out of their way to reassure you? So a lot of people have replied to my thread, that’s great, but I still can’t figure out why people would have a problem with that.

Columbia - reach
Cornell - reach
GTech - match
UT Austin - match
USC - match

It should help that you are Mexican. You have a slight chance at Columbia and Cornell, good luck.

You didn’t apply to UF?

Didn’t realize that their deadline was Nov 1 when I was doing my apps in mid-November >.< I still kick myself over that. Either way, there really aren’t many schools in Florida that offer good ChemE programs…and I want to get out of here

definite no @ columbia – high reach @ cornell.

bummmpppsss

your heritage helps you a ton. 3.94 GPA but only top 20 percent. are you 100% positive about this? if so. Wow.

i still think you will get in at Cornell and GT either way. your GPA will hurt you at Columbia but theres always a chance. your URM status wont help you much at USC or UTAustin but i think your still a high match for those schools.

thanks for the chance

i think you have a shot at cornell, though i think columbia is a bigger reach

good chance at usc
don’t know too much about UT or georgia tech, but you’ll probably get in
if this wasn’t ur 3rd attempt at the SAT and you’re not satisfied, you could still retake in january, or you could take another subject test to get another 700+ score (maybe study for math1 this time?)

-Columbia- Reach yeah these schools are reaches for everyone
-Cornell-see above: this one might be easier to get in because of your race
-Georgia Tech- High Match
-University of Texas- Austin-Match your SAT scores can definitely get you in. many of my friends go there and their sat scores are around yours
-University of Southern California- Match again, based on friends stats and yours is above theirs

To daman11: Yes, my school “ranks” based on weighted GPA, and my 4.16 is nowhere near the top (Val expected to have a 4.33) because the school doesn’t offer too many AP’s (8 is the max I think) and 2 B’s in FR year in a very competitive and small senior class screw you over, thus me being in only the top 20%. Mind you, it’s a guesstimate.

To bicyclekick: Given my recent results with the December SAT (score dropped by 150 points overall) Standardized tests legitimately scare me lol. Besides, all of my applications are completed, scores sent and everything, and now I just want to sit back and keep my fingers crossed.

To everyone: Thanks for chancing me! Post a link and I’ll chance back! (Assuming I haven’t already)

On a side note, I really like parentheses

the val actually has 4.47 (basteard) Also, willhaspassion is spot on in terms of chancing. youll be fine buddy.

you could potentially get into Columbia and Cornell. those schools are definitely not out of reach for you, not at all.

I know a relative who has similar stats to you (3.9+ GPA, 2090 SAT, good e/cs). He had extensive musical involvements, however, and that helped him gain an entrance into UChicago. I was really happy for him, but that also means good news to you. If you can show Columbia and Cornell some real passion in your essays, I think they might not be “high reaches” for you anymore.

Facepalm after the val ownage…thanks Miller…

reading these posts makes me feel better!
I applied to Cornell and thought it was a stretch
But my SAT is a 2210 and I’m Cuban so…

Anyway about UT Austin
I live in Austin and from my knowledge the 10 percent of kids that are OOS are the cream of the crop
also being Mexican wont do you any favors around here :)

Well aware, a Mexican in Texas is more common than a fish in a pond

all of our ponds are dried up though :0

Proverbial pond then, proverbial fish while we’re at it.

Columbia and GTech I think would be somewhat high reach schools for you, but reading your ECs, I believe the way you present yourself in the application could completely change the outcome. Yeah, I think you’ve got a good shot. Good Luck!
