Transfer decision

@liszella good luck with accounting. 301 is a weed-out class, so if you liked accounting before you might reconsider your relationship to it after that. However, I found 301 the most intense accounting class. After that it’s easier. To enhance your understanding of the necessity of suffering you will have to go through, join Beta Alpha Psi where accounting professionals come and talk about the real world, which is more interesting.

@liszella, thank you!

To those who are waiting, my unofficial transcript did not load for Seattle, so don’t depend on the transcript too much :)

@seatac Thanks for the tip, I’ll definitely check that out.

I am a fall transfer student and my unofficial transcript loaded May 30th although I haven’t received an admission letter. Keeping my fingers crossed… I also have a separate application from a specific program I am waiting on. Does anyone know if both decisions will arrive together?

Oh and I forgot to mention, only my high school credits are displayed on the transcript although it lists be as a junior?

@kevinsauer thank you for the info and congrats.

it makes me even more anxious now when people who applied to the same major as i did seemed to be getting admissions. well, i actually didnt apply to the department (which i should have) and am just waiting to hear from the admissions so it might be different for me? hmm. i dont really understand why general admissions would take longer though. my unofficial transcript doesnt load and i havent got the notification letter either. :/

for those who are already accepted, i have a question for you. what are the dates for the transfer orientation sessions? has anyone got to sign up for one yet?

@Kevinsauer, stats and what not?? Congrats!!

@longhornedhusky, I listed chemistry as my first choice major on the application but did not apply to the department, so maybe I’m in the general admission group. The acceptance letter states that I will receive another envelope for enrollment payment and orientation procedures. So I don’t really know the dates yet.

@alexandrab14, I’m majoring chemistry, prerequisites GPA of 4.0, overall college GPA 3.95. I believed that my essay was not the best since I really have a hard time with writing, as English is my second language. For extracurricular activities, I only mentioned volunteering at a hospital for 1 year, and a tutor at church school for 4 years. Obviously my GPA really helped me get in.

Thank you and good luck guys!

Hey it maybe too late but where did you apply for Foster school of business? I only could find the application for the general admissions. I listed business administration as my first choice and economics as my second. but I ticked the “I am / will be submitting a separate departmental application for this quarter in addition to my University application.” choice instead of the “I will be submitting a separate departmental application for a future quarter, after enrolling at the UW.” option. Will this be a problem?

@liszella ^^^^

Foster has it’s own website, which you can find if you go to the majors list, click on Business Administration, and then click the link for the department website.

It would be too late to apply for fall quarter though, the deadline was April 5th. The application for winter start opens August 1st. I’d recommend talking to an adviser if you can about it, because there are a lot of prerequisites, and you do have to take a writing assessment as well. I’m not sure how it would effect your general admission application, so you might want to contact admissions too, or at least I would.

Good luck!

Thank you so much! I’ll be sure to contact the admissions on monday. By the way, congratulations on your acceptance!

I was officially admitted 3 weeks ago to UW as a transfer,

Are you fall transfer?

Hey, I’m a fall transfer applicant but I couldn’t apply to the actual school because I didn’t have the major prereqs (fot psychology). I’m also not a CC transfer, do any of you know if that means that it will take even longer for me to hear? I hope not.

Got my letter yesterday for Fall Semester, I’m in for sure! YAY!

You guys are probably going to hate me. But here are my stats:

High School GPA 2.1
Cumulative College GPA 2.6
No SAT or ACTS

This obviously needs explanation.

I’m an older student, graduated High School in the early 2000’s. Rebelled in High school but still graduated. I Went to CC not really caring so much; mostly taking music classes and general electives. My parents insisted that I go, so I figured I’d do what I want. Plus it was only 11 bucks a unit then.

I was in a couple of bands and went on tour a lot. So I would disappear from classes for weeks at a time. My mom got sick another semester so I helped her out for a couple of months. Various other things happened, jobs, Orange County in general. So I ended up with some bad grade history.

However, I restarted at a new community college, finishing my AA with a 3.93 GPA at that particular institution. So I assumed my essay and my complete academic reversal won them over. (Yes I sent them all my previous college transcripts. A lot of people told me not to. But I was truthful, and didn’t lie.)

TL;DR Bad grade history due to personal matters and just general life. Returned to school 3.93 GPA, wrote kick ass essay (I think), got in.

@lazyzombie That actually makes me feel better. When I went to college right after high school my entire life exploded on my so by the time I withdrew my GPA was more dismal than yours. This time around I did much better (it’s amazing how motivational paying for everything yourself is) and it shows in my essay so… crossing fingers

And congrats!

Definitely not a reason to hate you @lazyzombie! If anything, you are more deserving than a 4.0 student right out of high school with little to no real world experience or personal growth. UW and other institutions recognize that someone like you is likely to graduate and be an active participant! I have a similar yet different story, and I hope my brief low points didn’t tarnish me too much.

TRANSCRIPT LOADED

Excuse me while I go do a happy dance in my office while my coworkers look at me like I’m nuts. :D

^ Mine loaded as well!
It doesn’t show grades, but it lists a student number, college, and major. From what I understand it doesn’t mean anything officially, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

On that note, congrats to those who’ve received the good news! For all of us waiting to hear back, hopefully it’s good news and a short wait!
