This is really interesting… I didn’t realize interview requests were Zoom meetings.
I didn’t receive one when everyone else did, however I just got an invitation for a meeting. Just FYI for anyone else who didn’t get one when the others did.

@hopesolo Can you post the content of the invitation?
@Ak1097
“Dear Applicant,
Thank you for applying to the University of California, Berkeley and the Haas School of Business!
The Admissions Committee invites you to schedule an interview with a Berkeley Haas alumni or staff member. During the interview we will ask questions to learn more about you and your interest in Berkeley Haas.
20-minute interviews via Zoom Conferencing…”
Did everyone else who got interviews get the same email?
@hopesolo Yep exactly that! There’s the interview that you were eager for
@hopesolo I received the same email today. My guess is that they are conducting a second round of interviews? (I was not selected for the first).
@Ak1097
Funny thing is that I finally reconciled NOT getting an interview invitation… and now here we are ;D
When I scheduled my time a couple hours ago, all the spots were available. I considered rescheduling to another day/time, and having just checked again, the entire first day is booked with only a few slots left in the remaining day.
It filled up fast - looks like there are quite a bit of interviews.
Hoping the best for everyone and that at the end of all this, we can gain some valuable insight to provide to future anxious applicants.
I’m a little late. But I did not receive an interview request for either time. =(
Just wondering… Any Non-Traditional applicants here? (over 25)
@hopesolo Congrats! My interviewer did say that the school is leaning on interviewing more and more people each year. Hope you do well!
I also got an interview request for the second round. It’s interesting how they broke it up into two groups this year!
I wonder how they broke the two groups up… is it possible that one group is the “99% in” and another group is the borderline applicants?
@beontheroad021 That would depend on the questions you will get asked. It is hard to assume where you stand in the process based on if your interview was in week 1 or 2. The school is changing a lot of things about the admissions process so I would assume they just want to interview more people this year.
Week 2 interviewees, what are your stats if you don’t mind me asking?
They only had so much room first two-day round. I wouldn’t put any extra meaning into the second batch. They need to coordinate the interviewers as well.
My D just got in Haas business school GMP, will start from summer and go to London for 1st semester, the accept letter said this is a select small group only 30 freshman, my question is do they still need to re apply haas at sophomore year? Or they are automatically in haas already?
@beontheroad021 It really could mean anything. I believe it’s more for their organization as Ohm already mentioned. Maybe last year since it was 4 days straight and everyone was able to sign up together that organizing afterward was a mess. I did notice the second round only goes up to T-N where the first was T-Z. However, there were a large number of vacant spots prior to the schedule closing which makes everything more nerve-racking knowing they possibly had the bandwidth to support it.
(I was curious so I clicked T-A, T-B…T-Z to gauge numbers and before the schedule closed I checked it again. I’m guessing each letter was the schedule of the interviewer. I noticed each letter had 4-8 time slots depending on if they did both days. My friend also got an invite for the second round which is how I saw T-A through T-N)
@BLK What kind of questions are asked for the two groups perspectively? As seen in the past discussion posts, I think they generally asked really general questions
Good luck to everyone going through their interviews this week!
@SDSFCalifornia Thanks!!!
Finished mine and it was the standard set of questions as well - nothing tailored specifically to me or my application, but it was a really great chat for the entirety of the interview. The work has been put in and now it’s just time to wait and hope for the best.
It’s nothing personal, but I’m not a big fan of sharing stats or the “chance me” during the application process - I think it really only made things more anxious for me :((
However, once all this is over and whether or not I get in, I’ll definitely include my stats for future readers of this thread to benefit from. I just don’t think it really benefits any of us.
Also, as @briank82 shared, I think it’s best not to fret too much about who got an interview, what questions were asked, or which interview round it was. We’ve all done our best and put everything into it, and the outcome will be the outcome regardless of how much we dive into the details.
In the end - good luck to everyone! Submitting our applications and making it this far is an achievement in itself. We should all be proud.
I hope everyone has something to stay busy with for the next 23 days
Honestly, I’m becoming more and more hopeless as the day gets closer haha.
