Just found out!

“Congratulations! You have been admitted to your first-choice major in the McCombs School Of Business ( Unspecified Business (Transfer) ) at UT Austin. Discover what to do next to begin your Longhorn experience.”

Wow, congratulations to everyone that’s been accepted so far! Hopefully I’ll be able to join the festivities when I find out my admission decision… I suspect mine will take a bit longer than the people here though, since my transcript came in late.

Yay!! Congrats JammyD!!! Good Luck to you!!!
Hey did you check this morning and check again later?

Well jungleman and darkryder it looks like communications willfor sure be last to start rolling out acceptances :frowning: Good Luck fellow film students

Congrats Jammy! I don’t think anyone had any doubt that you would get in. I don’t think anyone blames you for being anxious, either. Now you can relax. =p

Congrats to everyone else as well!

Congrats, Jammy! you didn’t have to wait until May! :)

Yay, Jammy! So happy for you! And thanks again for starting this thread.

Cherrybomb, jungleman, darkryder: I’m with y’all! First Choice Communications, Pre-Journalism. Maybe it’s actually more competitive than McCombs. Boooo… Hate this waiting.

Hey cherrybomb82, how did you know that Communications would be the last ones to receive decisions? Did you call the school and ask or was it somewhere online? Now I’m curious about the College of Natural Sciences!

Congrats all you that are accepted. I have never had anxiety like this! I should be studying but cannot help constantly rechecking my status and this thread to see others that have decisions. I will force myself to close my browser and start reading for a test tonight… but it is extremely hard to do.

Congrats. to you all and Jammy. I knew you’d get in! Now, let’s see when COLA will let me know. Jesus.

This is what I expected would happen though. My husband knows a guy that used to be on UT’s admissions committee and he said that these responses usually come in a couple of waves for each College. First, they accept the people that are automatically going to get in (such as those with the super-high GPAs) and deny the people that there is no way they could get in (such as those with super-low GPAs, probably less than 3.0).

Next, they actually go through all of the applications and make decisions based on the essays and other things, on a case-by-case basis. The remaining people will be chosen based on how good a fit their academic background and life experience are with the colleges/majors they have chosen. I’m sure once you throw in factors such as folks who won’t have 30hrs until after this semester is over, it adds to the length of time for the rest of us to hear back.

This appears to be exactly what is going on. You’ll notice that everyone on this thread who has been accepted has had an exceptional GPA. No one on here has been rejected yet but everyone on here has a decent GPA (at least 3.0, which is what UT’s website recommends as the minimum for consideration).

It doesn’t really make me feel any better about waiting or how likely it is that I will get in or not, but it helps me to remind myself that even though I don’t have the best GPA, I have a lot of really excellent strengths in other areas. I’m just trying to be realistic.

Hello guys,

I’ve been reading your post for the last couple of weeks and just want to give you heads up about admission to McCombs School of Business.

Some stats:

International Resident
Moved to States 2 Years ago
Transferrable coursework GPA:4.0 Overall: 3.97
Couple of extracurriculars. Work etc.

I wish good luck to those who did not hear anything yet from the school.

@cold_katanagirl, I dont know for sure but Ive always heard that McCombs was the hardest to get into so Im just assuming Communications which is also high on the competative list will be closer towards the end, since none of us that applied have heard anything yet.
Good Luck!

Rgalvanatx is definitely right. I’m applying for Natural Sciences but my app is still under review. Grats to everyone getting in.

YES! Accepted to McCombs University :D, I got in even when i didn’t have one indicator course! GPA: 3.95 UH Honors, Mediocre EC, Mediocre Essays.

Thanks everyone for wishes! It’s really weird that some of us got into McCombs without completing the indicator courses, but I’m not complaining!
@cold_katanagirl: Thanks, hopefully we’ll be seeing each other around!

@EE2112: I’m also waiting to hear from the Cockrell School of Engineering, no luck yet =/

I’ll let you know if I receive an answer

Chance me please
What’s up fellow longhorns.
Will i get into UT Austin with following stats:
GPA: 3.64 with less than 30 hours completed (Done with normal gpa calculator not UT method so it could be less:( )
Applied to Liberal Arts: Undeclared
Second choice: College of natural Sciences - Biology
Question: How much do the essays matter? Cause i wrote pretty good essays just wondering if they matter a lot.
