UT Austin 2011/12 Transfer Guide

@cold_katanagirl: I got mine today! It was mailed the day after my decision was posted on the status check page. It’s SUCH a good feeling knowing that my acceptance is official :)

@Inmotion: Thanks for the back up

Ah yes, I just checked the mail and I’ve received my letter as well. It really does feel great to see it on paper. : ) I can’t wait for the next letter to come that will explain more about what we’ll be doing in the future… I’m excited!

EE2112, my financial aid was processed less than 24 hours after I was accepted, so be on the lookout. The letter came within about 5 days I believe.

jchaplin, I’m really sorry to hear that. I’ve heard that appeals are pretty much only if there was some kind of technical error or evidence of your ability that was overlooked. Similar to a court of law, new evidence strong enough to overturn the original decision must be presented and I’m not sure if a jump in GPA is enough.

HOWEVER, please make sure to try just in case, because you never, ever know.

@Darkryder, I think if you were accepted to your second choice school that means that was their final decision. I dont know that they would offer you two spaces in two majors. But your in so you can always internally transfer after your first semster at UT.
BTW can we get that kusman-whatever guy be reported and taken off this thread? I already reported him: seriously man grow up and stop being a jerk!
Congrats e2112!

Congrats to all that have made it in! I check this site more than FB (amazingly lol!). Hook em!

However, I on the other hand am starting to get a little anxious. Currently, I’m waiting for this semester to be over in order to send in my transcript with the completed 30 hours. I applied to Advertising and COLA: urban studies and have managed to maintain a 3.8 gpa here at UTSA (possibly a 3.9 depending on my GEO final).

So I’m wondering that since I don’t have the completed 30 hours, will that affect my chances against ppl who already do?

Alright guys, I’m a little worried. Still waiting to hear a decision from UT. I applied to McCombs as a transfer student. After this semester i’ll have about 73 hours. I have a 3.7 GPA. And i completed all the required courses (both econ classes, and both calc classes)

Last Wednesday they had accidentally canceled my application. But I called and they were able to correct it. They told me the software must have had a glitch.
So i’ll keep waiting. But its not easy.

Hang in there hellothere09. You’re GPA is pretty high. Only thing is are all 73 hours transferable? cause I know there is a required amount of hours you must complete at UT.

Hey how long did it take for financial aid to be updated once you were accepted. Every penny counts since it will only be my husband working now that I’m in. Also which orientation did everyone decide to attend?

@pillowpants how is your grandma doing? Hope she is getting better
@everyone- I guess the reporting worked that jerky guy’s posts are no longer showing on the thread! Congrats to everyone whose been accepted that I may have missed. I appreciate everyone who was supportive of me and to those still waiting: Good Luck there is still time. :)

Thanks for your encouragement, Cherrybomb82!
Yes, i realize that some of mine are non-transferable, but I only need 30 hours to apply as a transfer student. I’m sure at least 50 of mine will transfer. I should be fine.

@HelloThere09: I was just admitted last week as a transfer into McCombs. If you want to PM me about any specifics/more in-depth info, I’ll be glad to help.

A 3.7 for McCombs is fairly low (average is around a 3.9). Use the ATE calculator/IDA to determine what exactly will and won’t transfer. Good luck!

Oh sorry Hellothere09, I wasnt trying to tell you they wouldnt transfer I just was sharing what I was told by an advisor about having too many hours. I had 71 hours from my cc but only 58-60 transfered over so I didnt look like I had too many. Thats all I meant :)

Ahh, I understand now.
Right, I wouldn’t want to have too many since I need to complete 60 in residency with UT.
We’ll see. Hopefully i’ll be able to graduate within 4 years. I’ll have to plan out the next two years carefully.

Sorry for reposting,

Congrats to all that have made it in! I check this site more than FB (amazingly lol!). Hook em!

So I’m wondering that since I don’t have the completed 30 hours, will that affect my chances against ppl who already do?

We would never expect this. here is the case:
I already got accepted to McCombs. My younger brother applied the same time as i did and had everything done on time. he has pretty high gpa 3.93(probably UT calculates it as a higher gpa cuz among his transferrable courses, only C in hist.1, the rest all As), 1st choice Biomedical 2nd petro both in Cockrell. He has not heard from them and is kind of worrying…

Then today he received a call from an admission staff saying that both of his choices are all full, but because of his high gpa, they dont wanna reject him, they suggest him to change into Natural Sciences then he will immediately get in.

My brother doesnt really know why his 2 choices get full that quick. Is it because of the freshmen take all the spots or his gpa is not high enough. moreover, Cockrell just requires at least Calc1 for transfer, my brother is more advanced with Calc3 in progress, Chem up to Organic, Bio something, Physics 1 in progress. We’re gonna call in tomorrow and ask them why but i don’t think they will tell us the reasons.

A guy on here said that he got into Petro 1st choice with 3.90. if my bro puts petro 1st choice, he would be in earlier.

alright, so we dont know what to do with Natural science, maybe he would finish up some classes required for pharmacy and apply again to pharmacy, going back to his original choice (that’s why he took so many chem and bio in CC). he suddenly changed his major to engineering causing not be able to take more advanced physics at the beginning. he is right now thinking of internal transfer next semester to Cockrell or to pharmacy.

It would be a full happiness for us if my brother can go to Cockrell along with me in McCombs. We’re ready for party but then… :(

How do we know which courses transferred over or not?

I can’t use the ATE calculator/IDA since I’m OOS and the school isn’t listed.

When would we hear anything about housing?

Paid my enrollment fee and signed up for orientation. Anyone elso going on June23-24?

I’ll be going to the June 23/24 orientation as well, cherrybomb. JammyD made a thread specifically for transfer orientation, and a lot of people seemed to be going that day… I think the topic is on the second page. : )

Cherrybomb, I’m planning to go then. I’m really annoyed that they only take Discover or Mastercard or an actual check electronically. I only have a Visa and no checks! Who uses checks? They require a check number and you can’t just enter the routing information. So I have to buy a damn money order. Lame! So I plan to be there, I just haven’t registered yet. Freaking A.
