UT Austin 2011/12 Transfer Guide

@morganem,

I’d suggest calling them and sorting it out. Sometimes the website isn’t up to date.

@Lindsiria,

I’m an out of state student - coming from Philadelphia, PA. I still haven’t found a place to stay but leaning more towards off-campus apartments.

I really think there should be a facebook group/page for incoming transfers so people can sort out orientation/housing for the fall.

Moderator’s Note: CC does not allow links to social networking sites. You can communicate via PM to find out about the Facebook group for UT Transfer students.

Thanks!

Good idea for the group btw.

I was looking into apartments but I want to see the apartments in person… And Well… I don’t have the time nor money to go down there a month or so before and try (and hopefully) get one.

That’s why I picked an off campus dorm and during the year look for a place for my junior year. That and I can meet more people.

I set up a facebook group under ‘University of Texas Transfers Fall 2011.’ Apparently CC won’t let me post a link so if you can’t find it, PM me and I’ll send you the link.

Chance me?!
3.5 GPA transfer

Thanks morganem, I had the same idea, nice to see someone else take some initiative.

do you guys know how soon admissions will start notifying people for those who just completed their 30 hours? will it be rolling admissions? or until they receive everyone’s updated transcripts? thanks.

^ Rolling admissions after they have received/processed your individual transcripts.

How’s it going everyone.

We have a facebook page now!(Maybe I’ll finally sign up)

Quick question - I could’ve sworn that I read something about sending in high school transcripts for placement purposes or something like that. I can’t seem to find that requirement online anymore. Do we need to send them in? And does anyone know the parking situation at orientation?

I hope everyone is wrapping up their semester on a good note. It was so much easier to focus on school after I was accepted.

I’m applying for spring 2012 with a 3.39 gpa. Besides having really good essays + letters of recommendation, what can I do to improve my chances? I’m writing a blog about data mining/web programming and have a few open source projects, browser extensions and html5 games that I’m working on. I wasn’t really involved with any ECs this year and my grades are kind of borderline. HALP

If my housing application gets canceled, can I start a new one later?

What do you wish to major in? Computer science?

I got into my second choice with a 3.3. If you are an out of state student, you should have a better chance than an in state one (they want your money xD).

Otherwise, I suggest for your second choice, do something that you have an easy chance of getting into. I did a school of undergraduate studies. Once you are into the school, you could always transfer to another school with a higher chance of success.

Umm… and try to get as good grades as possible (or hard classes) in this semester and next semester.

Quick question: So i sent in my final transcript and on the UT status check it says that they’ve received it, however at the top of that page it still says “Your application for transfer admission is complete except for the required 30 semester hours of transferable credit. We will not review your application until we receive an official transcript of your current coursework. Please submit an official transcript as soon as possible but no later than June 15.” The final transcript I sent in has my 30 completed hours. Did anyone else have a problem similar to this? Is there some kind of delay?

texaslax10 - If they did process your final transcript, I would assume UT would have not counted some of your courses (didn’t transfer), therefore resulting in minimum 30 hours to review an application. You should probably call and ask.

Crap! I hope you’re not right. I checked all of the courses on UT’s ATE… If thats the case, Im screwed. Big time. :'(

I just re-checked everything on my IDA Planner and UT ATE. Everything transfers over with 30 hours…

texaslax10, just wondering but when did you send in your transcript? i sent mine in a couple of days ago but they still haven’t gotten it apparently.

edit: jk they literally just received it and updated my status pg. and yeah mine also says the same thing as yours.

oh and don’t worry i’m sure that they just haven’t started reviewing your application or updated the status page. maybe that’s why.

Update: I called admissions and everything is fine! :smiley: Sorry for being bothersome, i think we can all agree that this application process is nerve-racking lol.

Anybody know how fast I might get an answer?

Also, I finished out with a cumulative gpa of 3.8 and im applying for Advertising. Think I have a chance at this point?

Thanks!!!

Anyone receive their housing contracts yet?
