I don’t know about other majors, but here’s a list of GPA cutoffs for engineering. It’s for internal transfers only, so expect external values to be higher.

I am also trying to get into the engineering school, but I just finished my freshman year with a 3.85 GPA with 32 hours. I’m taking summer classes as well. I know how competitive Cockrell is, so I don’t expect to get in. My second choice is Natural Science. I was wondering what cherrybomb82 was talking about with “The statistics show some 4.0’s that were denied last year.” I can’t find statistics like that anywhere. Anyway, I am still waiting and hope to hear back soon.

@maxsmith that was from a website that I went to at [College Search - College Admissions](http://www.■■■■■■■■■■) It has a tool where you can type in your info (gpa, and so on) and it will see what your chances are of getting in. I just tried it cause it was free, but one of their charts showed a few 4.0’s who were denied. It was probably due to the lack of effort in their essays. UT has numerous places on its website that state how they determine admission as a holistic process where they take the application as a whole and they make sure to disclose that no GPA is an automatic guarentee of admissions. of course we all know a 4.0 student most likely has a better shot but mostly we are all just guessing. Go try the tool on cappex if you like. It had some good info. I am in no way trying to pass myself off at an expert of any kind on UT admissions, I just wanted to throw that out there cause Im seeing alot of people feeling like a rejection is coming based on the wait when thats not entirely true.
Just trying to keep spirits up :)

i called admissions today and regarding the college of communications applicants, she stated that they have not even begun reviewing those applicants because they want to wait until the june 15th deadline passes, to give everyone a fair shot. So don’t fret, she said no one got their decision from college of communications who sent a spring 30 hour transcript.
my friend who sent his transcript later than i got into business about a week ago, so i got pretty worried, but she said they dont review in alphabetical order and perhaps not even in order received…

@dae0528, about your friend who got into the business school, did she just complete 30 hours this past spring semester like you and I, or is she just a regular transfer applicant? I’m wondering if, for applicants like you and me, they are waiting until June 15th for every college within UT.

Maxsmith, I am also awaiting a decision as an applicant who completed the thirty hours required for consideration this past spring.

It makes sense that UT would not begin reviewing applications until after the deadline for fairness purposes.

As far as personal statistics are concerned, I have a 3.64 GPA with an increasing academic trend. I recently completed two semesters of work at Lone Star College at Kingwood with a 4.0. The remaining credits on my transcript are all B’s from dual credit through my high school. I should also mention that the B’s are all credits for mathematics courses, Pre-calculus through Calculus II.

I’ve applied to the school of natural sciences for a major in pure mathematics, and as my second choice I have chosen the school of education as a generalist.

I really think it’s a lukewarm chance that I’m accepted; however, I did complete Calculus III at my college with an A, which may help some.

Any other math/engineering majors around here looking to transfer?

There were a lot of us who recived acceptance letters from Ut on 6/1/11 who just completed the 30hr in Spring. However most of us where going into Cola. It took me somewere around 3weeks to hear back. So many people who completed the 30hr have heard from UT. Maybe they just havent gottin to your college yet, as someone else said. Check out the previous pages so you can see when we turned in Spring transcrips and when we got status on UT sight:) Good luck to all of you;)

Congratulations! We are pleased to inform you that you have been admitted to the College Of Communication ( Advertising (Lower Division) ) at The University of Texas at Austin. Learn more about what you need to do next to begin your Longhorn experience.

so happy! was not expecting this soon, after the lady told me about june 15th.

melanie… my friend was a cap student who applied as business, so yes 30 hours applicant.

Im so happy for you!!! As far as your friend, now I understand they are CAP… Have you started your process, orentation ect??? Lot’s to do LONGHORN!! For everyone who is still waiting, keep your head up(I feel you will know something real soon) Good luck:)

i havent paid my deposit yet, so i cannot register for orientation yet. I am waiting on a waiver which should come in a week. I called admissions and they said there are about 36 spots left on the jun 30 orientation for comm majors, so im not too worried i guess.

Congrats dae0528! I am still waiting…My stats are 3.875 GPA, 32 hours from Austin Community College, and taking 4 hours this summer. My first choice is engineering, second choice college of natural sciences. Online it says they usually wait for the June 15 deadline for more competitive majors…Hopefully I hear soon

dae0528-- I wasnt aware we could get a wavier for orentation. If so I already paid for orentation, wish I could have got the wavier, however I got the waiver for addmissions.

phinatic-- I was told if we are freshman or transfer students we must go to orentation to be able to register. I might be wrong but thats what I was told. I registered for Jun 30 orentation because I didnt want all the lower level(2nd years)classes to be gone. So as long as we get in the earliest orentation I think we will be ok with classes, just dont get a late orentation date then everything might be gone.

Are you guys still going to take a couple of classes at ACC. Just asking I know some people who also go to UT and take classes at ACC.

@dae0528 & Phinatic,
Yes Orientation is required so that you have a chance to meet with an advisor update to a more secure ETID and get your ID card, without these things you will have a bar on your registration and to get your id you need to be there in person to provide a State id as proof. Registration is on the second day and I wouldn’t worry to much about classes being full as the first orientation days are next week on the 23-24 so no new students have been allowed to register unless they were able to go to UT and take care of their ID and ETID. Hope this helps :)

Thats so weird, I went and secured my ETID and got my UT ID early because I didnt want to be in long lines come time for Fall, and they still told me I had to attend orentation even thou I did all this already. Can you recomend someone I can talk to about not going and getting my 50$ since I have already done all this? :)
