UT Austin 2011/12 Transfer Guide

Ummmm Im pretty sure that you need a transcript that has been officially sent from your school via mail. I’m pretty sure that the deadline past for transcripts on October 1

1) Current College: A local CC in my town
2) Current GPA: 3.5
3) Probable total GPA after Spring Semester (in May): 3.6
4) First Choice Major/College: Accounting College of Natural Science
5) Second Choice Major/College: School of Geoscience
6) Courses completed: 36 transferable credits most of my science doesnt transfer
7)Extracurricular Activities/Recommendations/Essays: Quite a few in high school/2 good ones/not terrible
8) Anything else useful: im also in the phi theta kappa honor society and also do they calculate your gpa overall or just for the transferable credits? PLZ CHANCE ME!!!

Is it sad that even though I know my chances aren’t that great with a 3.4 GPA and I know that the decisions won’t come out till mid November, I still check my status page once a day to see if there has been some sort of magical change?

Nah, that’s just anxiety and excitement. Don’t sweat it, second time’s the charm, right?

longhorn517-sure can send a transcripts electronically, I sent mine electronically when I appliey and got accepted to UT. However, if you didnt send anything in by October 1, you missed the deadline like gabbybelzer noted:) Hope you got something in there before the deadline. Good luck…

Are there any other transfer hopefuls for Spring that want to join our little group and share their stats? =)

I am a fellow spring hopeful.
4.0 GPA
34 Credit Hours
Decent essays (2)
1 good rec
decent ECs

First choice is education.

Can I expect to be accepted if I keep the 4.0? (I will)
Also am I right to assume that I won’t find out until sometime in January?

My husband got accepted today with 3.92 gpa. Chemical :))))

Just got into CivE! It was my first choice. I had a 4.0 with 61 hours at my local community college. Decent essays. No letters of recommendation.

Congrats to 123Lareen and zachrby!!!

Thanks kriccobono, I am still waiting for my result.

So I haven’t heard anything back yet, but I thought I might post some of my information so that I can decide whether I should get my hopes up or not.

3.49 Overall GPA
International Affairs Major in Liberal Arts
42 hours completed at George Washington University with a 3.3 GPA
9 hours completed at Texas State University with a 4.0 GPA and 12 hours in progress
No letters of Rec
Active participation in 2 Student orgs, nominal membership in 2 others
A few hours of community service and I’m currently working as a paid tutor at three Austin-area schools

My essays were decent and I put my second choice major as undeclared in the university college. This is also my second time applying for transfer. The first time I applied, it was with my 3.33 GPA from GWU and I hadn’t yet taken summer classes at Texas State.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Longhorn517 yes they ut accepts transcripts electronically…

Can somebody tell me when I will find out?
I have will have 34 hours at the end of this semester with a 4.0, but obviously the school will need to receive my transcript before they make their decision. Also, does it hurt my chances that I am having to wait for my in progress hours to finish while other transfer students are being admitted?

Spring 2012! We’re so close!

1) Current College: Central Texas College ( And a semester at Texas State)
2) Current GPA: 3.67

First Choice: BSPsych
Second Choice: BAPsych
Courses Completed: 35 hours, almost completely core curriculum and additional psychology classes (but no more than six hours)
Extracurricular: I was involved in Varsity swimming all through high school, as well as drama club. I was in student council my senior year, and the AP Bio club vice president. I work full time, currently with children with special needs. My goal is to be a pediatric occupational therapist. I also have over 1,000 volunteer hours at my local community theatre. I have acting awards, as well as numerous swimming accomplishments. I’m a certified lifeguard and swim instructor- my main duties with the children I work with now is swimming lessons, and acting as a technician in the pool.

alright I’ve stayed away from trying to get “chanced” but I think it’s time so here it goes:

current college: UNC Chapel Hill
texas resident: yes
ECs/work experience: tons including founding a club in High School and a now defunct computer recyclery earlier this year (we donated computers to those in our community who needed them as well as providing computer literacy and programming class) and a research assistant at the School of Public Health my freshman year. I’m also an illustrator who’s been featured in a magazine (not sure if that helps with anything)
bad news: had a “freak” semester my second semester freshman year which kinda shattered my GPA. In good standing at UNC though and can return.
major: Geography/Linguistics (interest in Geoinformatics/GIS and Computational Linguistics/Sociolinguistics)
Originally from Ghana/Permanent Resident/ blah blah

also letter of rec from a professor in the Geography department at UNC. it was pretty ballin’

2 questions…1. if u dont mind me asking, what exactly is your GPA? 2. Are u applying for spring transfer?

Hey guys, I know that acceptance/rejections are just mere weeks away for some of us. And I am FREAKING out!!! So I am just putting my stats back up, just to see what people think. I know I know that what other people think doesn’t matter, but it may help me feel better or get more realistic about my chances for spring transfer.

GPA: 3.4 (A definant upward trend since freshman year)

Out of state

2 Letters of Rec, one absolutely glowing from a former employer who basically wrote three pages on why she thought I would be a perfect match with UT. And another from my Philosophy prof who wrote a glowing account of me as a student.

2 Essays, I think that they were pretty good, they were very personal and related back to my intended major. I had about 3 different profs including my English prof, take a look at them and proofread for grammer/content.

Resume is two pages and again had a a bunch of people look it over. I was told all the info looked very good and was pretty consistent (aka I didn’t have things that were compleely unrelated/random things)

What do you guys think?

Also, another question. I just got my midterm grades for this semester. As in all 7 of my courses that I am taking (22 credits…yikes!) I was wondering, do you think it would do anything if I sent in my midterm grades?
