I’m transferring from ACC. I will have 29 credit hrs by end of this spring semester and will take some summer courses. do you know if UT Austin will wait for my summer transcript for 2012 fall admssion?

quick!!

I heard that def. upward trend of gpa is good?
So,
I had 2.9 last semester and if i can raise it to 3.38 next semester, do i have a good chance to get accepted?

@jwy777
upward trend of gpa is definately helpful but I heard the average for COLA is 3.5 and natural science is 3.6

how does UT calculate your GPA?
I’m from ACC and there are some classes I would like to retake to increase my GPA

@jwy777 what is your major?
i know people on this thread that got into COLA with a 3.29
(2 people to be exact)

If you want to transfer into the Fall of 2011 (or the Spring) post your stats here:
I want to Transfer Fall 2012.
- Current College: UH (now tier 1)
- Current GPA: 3.383
- Probable total GPA after Spring Semester (in May): 3.5
- First Choice Major/College: Natural Science (heard people get 3.2s and still make it?)
- Second Choice Major/College: Liberal Arts
- Courses completed: PreCal, Bio1, Bio Lab 1, Art History, Writing comp 1 =13 Hours
Dual Credit courses: 15hrs. After spring semester 27hrs (not including dual credit).
7)Extracurricular Activities/Recommendations/Essays: Quite a few in high school/2 good ones/not terrible - questions: I plan to transfer internally if I make it into liberal arts to Natural Sciences. How hard/ easy would that be?
When i submit my transcripts, does UT consider my grades from dual credit or summer courses?
Is it easier to get into UT during spring semester since less people apply then?

9)other info: My resume is decent, but still a work in progress, and i plan to make good essays.

does your dual credit courses gpa count towards the overall gpa that UT looks at?

I’ am a Mechanical Engineering major at the University of North Texas. I really want to transfer to UT for Fall of 2012. I have already completed 17 hours at UNT and 44 hours from my IB credit in high school. I currently have a 3.8 GPA. My first choice is the School of Geosciences. My second is Undergraduate studies.

I have credit for calculus 1.
I’ am taking chemistry and geology this next semester at UNT

What are my chances on getting accepted? I know UT is very competitive. If anyone has any advice…please tell me!

Got in, bio, natural sciences, i’m a freshman going into my second semester lol, screw the cap program haha.

Hi fellow UT hopefuls!
I was wondering if I take classes at a community college this summer does UT add those grade in your gpa if I am applying for spring semester transfer for 2013?
I attend trinity university and my gpa by the end of the semester will be a 3.2 I can take credits of the summer and get a 3.4? Let me know what y’all think(:

my major is biomy major is bio

trying to get into cola for fall 2012… currently going to utsa and have a 4.0… if i keep my 4.0 and turn in my transcript at the end of spring semester (won’t have enough credits until then) do you guys think i can get in?

@lgonzales316 you shouldnt have a problem at all. COLA is the easiest to get into.
my friend who went to UT Arlington last year did the cap program and got into COLA (Economics) with a 2.8
just keep your grades as high as you can!

Can you give me my chances? I know it’s a long shot, but it never really hurts to try!!

I want to transfer Fall 2012

1) Current College: Oklahoma State University

2) Current GPA: 3.27

3) Probable total GPA after Spring Semester (in May): 3.45

4) First Choice Major/College: Natural Sciences

5) Second Choice Major/College: Liberal Arts

6) Courses completed: Honors Intro Bio, Gen Chem 1 and 2, Comp 2, Government, Intro Astronomy, Intro Botany, Organic Chemistry 1, College Algebra, Honors Intro Speech, Honors Medieval Renaissance Studies, Intro Zoology, Intro Sociology

This Semester: Organic Chemistry 2, Organic Chemistry Lab, Intro Gender Studies, Calc 1, Cell and Molecular Biology

7)Extracurricular Activities/Recommendations/Essays: Quiz Bowl (secretary), Botanical Society, Dairy Science Club, Freshman Research Scholars. I could get a recommendation from my supervisor from FRS. I wrote some pretty stellar essays.

8) Questions:

How much more difficult is it to get in when you’re from out of state?

Do they take the grades I’d make this semester into account? Also, how do you know how difficult it is to get into certain departments?

9) Other info: The past two summers, I’ve been a research technician and an REU respectively at a nonprofit research organization. I am published. I was a Freshman Research Scholar at my university, which basically means I did a research project under supervision and made a presentation about it.

AJQureshi- I go to UT at Austin and also in Cola(Psyc). I have never heard of a 2.8 gpa getting into Cola. I also thought when your in CAP, your GPA has to be higher than a 3.2 or something like. I have a friend in CAP Ut at SanAntonio.

@MelanieBlue2 yes youre right, i was mistaken
i just asked my friend again and he said got in with a 3.8 not a 2.8
sorry :(

@lgonzales316 sorry for the misinformation
but as long as you keep your GPA high you’ll get into COLA!

Hey,

I’m planning to tranfer to UT Austin Fall 2012 in COLA for Arabic and Philosophy. Currently Im in HCC with GPA of 3.4. I work a fulltime job to pay for college so I don’t really have many extra curriculum activities or volunteering?
What chances do I have?

Also, how is the transfer GPA determined for UTA?

I love that this thread has over 82,000 views. I’m so proud of my baby :’)

I wish I could post more, but I’ve gotten a little busy over the past couple of months.
