No specific courses are required to be accepted to COLA, but you will need to knock out some science credits at some point. So if you’re choosing chemistry, it’s up to you whether you want to deal with those credits now or later.

well I have 8 biology credits from IB…but I eventually want to do Engineering so I need to take chem eventually

Anything Else that could help: Former CAP student at UTPA. I plan on getting a 4.0 this semester, Spring 2012. Trying to right a stellar essay.

P.S.

I can give both semester GPAs at UTPA if that helps.

The most important thing is GPA I assume. They also want to know how you spent your time outside of the classroom but any extracurricular activity is worthless without a solid, competitive GPA.

how hard is it to get into school of social work?

looking into fall 2012- someone judge me!!!

8) Questions: As long as I keep my GPA up, is there really any way I would be rejected?
Also, does anyone know about how good financial aid and scholarships tend to be for transfers? I’ve heard it’s usually pretty crappy, but if that’s true I won’t even be able to go and that would make me very, very sad.

Mmmm I would like to know the answer to @belac4’s questions also!
If GPA is good, would I really get rejected? And how good are they at fin aid and schol?

I have a 3.7 GPA at a small private school. i’m on the student governing body. programs committee (big deal here). had a radio show first semester. italian club. ambassadors for advertising (my major). im an adv scholar, pre law scholar, panhellenic scholar, and several other scholarships.

I was accepted last year but took a full ride to my current college-- so I wrote one essay about why I would now like to attend UT and the other is the required. and then i wrote the optional essay also.

any thoughts? especially on those first two questions!

Hey, I really need help.
I’m still a high school senior and have been accepted into UT, but I have already changed my mind about my major of choice. I REALLY want to go into engineering, if at all possible chemical. I know I can transfer in after a year, but I don’t want to waste my time freshman year taking classes I don’t need or that aren’t useful to me. Can I take classes that relate to a major I’m not in…? Or what do I do?..

Hey guys I’m also the one who will apply for UT-Austin.
first major is finance.
second is international relations.

my current GPA is 3.81.
I’m an international student of University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire(4 year school).

I expect to 48 credits to complete this spring semester.
I hope you guys succeed in getting into UT-Austin.

I join a few clubs.

Alright…I need some advice…pronto.

I currently attend the University of North Texas, and my major is mechanical engineering. I want to transfer to Jackson School of Geosciences for Fall of 2012. My dream is to be a Geosystem Engineer.

GPA: 3.7
2nd choice major: Liberal Arts
resume: pretty good
essay: I wrote about water scarcity

I’ m currently enrolled in calculus, chemistry and physical geology.

I keep hearing different stories about JSG. Some say it is really easy…and others say it is super competitive. Can someone please give some solid facts or tell me their own experiences?

I really want to get in…so any advice you can give me is much appreciated!

Hi I’m trying to apply for fall 2012 and applytexas says the deadline was on 12/01/2011? WHASSSUP WITH THAT???

Make sure you start your ApplyTexas application as a transfer student. The transfer deadline is March 1, general admissions deadline was Dec. 1.

come on…can someone answer my question

iqayum18,

COLA lists no special admissions requirements on their transfer page, so I assume no. What makes you think you would need chemistry?

34 credits from cc, might have a gpa around 3.55, does that give me a good shot into getting in for COLA or undecided?
Essays are OK, no letter of rec, lots of activities in HS(2011), none in college. Took calc 1, calc2, physics 1 & 2 with are brought my gpa down a bit.

Fall semester GPA: 3.2
Probable GPA after spring: 3.5+
Applied: Public Relations/Communications and Undeclared/COLA
1 letter of reccomendation, Student Government and good amount of voulnteer work

I’m stuck on my essays/drafts and would love if someone looked over them.

1) Current College: Georgia State
2) Current GPA: 3.59
3) Probable total GPA after Spring Semester: 3.65
4) First Choice Major/College: Communications (RTF)
5) Second Choice Major/College: Journalism
6) Credits: 64
7) Anything else useful:1890 SAT. Hope Scholarship (3.0 or higher throughout high school)

Decided to apply and keep my options open. Do I have a shot?

@Falcon8r cherrybomb got in with a 3.7, I believe. For a decent chance just keep your GPA above 3.5 (shoot higher if possible though) and have some good essays. Also make sure which of your credits will transfer with the ATE (you can access it by logging into your UT EID) because no more than 60 credits are allowed for transfer.

Can anyone chance me please???
