Thanks vtexas, I appreciate the info. I’m also going to get a letter of recommendation from a film professor I’ve had for two semesters. My resume has a bunch of work history and high school stuff (sports and volunteer coaching). I can’t really objectively assess my essays but they’re deeply personal and I’m going to have them looked at and revised.

As far as credits, I’ve mainly only taken core classes and film studies classes so they should transfer. Wish me luck!

@quikpanik I think if you end up with your probable GPA for spring, you will for sure get into your second choice, since a 3.5 is kind of a guarantee for COLA. I’m not familiar with Natural Sciences, but read around the thread to get an idea. Best advice I can give in general is to think of it as the amount of space available, and they are looking for the best applicants to fill them. Try to get your GPA as close to 4.0 as you can and if you don’t stand out with your resume, make up for it with your essays.

Well, I’m supposed to find out in April if I get in or not because I already have 33 hours. I mean it should say something that I got a 4.0 my first semester as a freshman and got put on the dean’s list… Don’t you think?
I also just got into the National Honor Society here, but didn’t get to put that on my resume. :/

Hey folks, how does the summer transfer work, and is it possible to apply for both summer and fall transfer, to have a better shot at making it?

I’m confused about the transferable credit policy. I have earned 64 credits, but only 20 of those are Upper-level film courses. Would I apply as a 0-59 RTF or 60+?

@quikpanik don’t stress too much about it at this point. I was appointed to two important committees here on campus. I didn’t get to put them on my resume as well because I had already submitted it. I’m just letting my essays speak for themselves.

@kha1ed you can only apply to one semester. The only thing that will give you a better shot is a good GPA. Resume and essays are also very important.

I think most of them will, but the problem is that out of state schools (GSU) aren’t in the list so I’ve had to go through the catalog and match up courses, which aren’t always a perfect match.

hey what do you guys think are my chances of getting into cockerell (engineering)…

1) Current College: University of Washington Seattle (freshmen)
2) Current GPA: 3.32
3) GPA for 18 creds at ACC: 4.0
4) First Choice Major/College: Mechanical Engineering
5) Second Choice Major/College: Art, or industrial engineering
6) Courses completed: first physics series, calc series, english comp, US history, computer programing (79 total so far)
7)Extracurricular Activities/Recommendations/Essays: No recommendations, worked at a homeless shelter and swing dance…uh…did some cool stuff in highschool but not sure if i should even put it on…

Does it help to be from in state?
I just really want to be in their school of engineering!

Ive got 10 Texas State credits earned with a 3.4 GPA
13 more earned at Texas State with a 3.5 GPA
3 credits earned from a CLEP exam in humanities
And I plan on attending UT this Summer as a transit student to earn 6 more credits with at least B+
I plan on doing some volunteering in Austin over the summer
I work over 20 hours a week, and Ive have had some of my writing credited

So what are my chances of getting in as a COLA transfer for the fall 2012 semester, as a Philosophy/Government major

Attending ACC right now and will probably end up with a GPA of 3.7
At the end of this semester I will have exactly 30 credits
First Choice Major/College: Biology, College of Natural Sciences
Second Choice Major/College: Undeclared, Undergraduate Studies
I believe my essays were pretty strong (they could have been better) and my resume is pretty decent too. I also have 2 letters of recommendation from one of my professors at UTSA and a professor at ACC.

Chances of getting in as a Natural Science transfer for fall 2012?

1) Current College: Texas A&M/Blinn College
2) Current GPA: 3.695
3) First Choice Major/College: Civil Engineering
4) Second Choice Major/College: Physics or Computer Science
5) Courses completed: Calculus 1 and 2, Chemistry, Engineering Design and Graphics, and others (46 total)
6)Extracurricular Activities/Recommendations/Essays: Eagle scout, Tech theater, sports. 1 Letter of recommendation from old Scout Leader. Essays are pretty good in my opinion.
Sooo?

I had a question about transfer credit if anyone could clear it up. My current college (UH) accepted around 18 hours in AP Credit does anyone know if that will transfer as well as my other credits?

So long as UH listed the credit on your transcript as courses taken at UH, and those courses match up with something in the ATE system at UT, they should be accepted.

Any Communication applicants out there? hoping for Public relations…been on this site more than my facebook trying to figure out when the admissions will be sent out for fall 2012.

Chance me?
1st choice: Liberal Arts:Gov.
2nd: Undecided
Transferring from a Texas cc
GPA: 3.46
Classes taken: Calc 1, phys 1, comp 1, us hist 1, us gov, sociology.
Currently taking: Calc 2, phys 2, comp2, us hist 2.
1 excellent essay, 1 good essay. Decent resume, lots of activities in HS but not related to my major.

Will they consider that my GPA is lower because I took harder classes (calc 1&2, phys 1&2)?

Now just hope and wait!
