finished my UT app for fall 2012 earlier this weekend
its complete

anyone wanna chance me?

ACC 46hrs done already 3.83 gpa
I made and A in CALCULUS 1
and A in genetics

currently taking calc2, english comp2, chem1, biology2
total of 15 hours right now
im shooting for an A in all of my classes this semester so far i made a’s for my first tests/papers in calc2,english,and chem1
biology2 i made a 80 on my first test but i can bring it back up easily.
recently quit my job so im absolutely positive i can make all a’s this semester.
if i had not worked while being at acc I would have a 4.0

my resume shows i’ve consistently worked 20-25 hrs a week all throughout senior year in high school(graduated 2010) until december 2011

and volunteered 30 hours total at dells childrens hospital

2 recommendation letters from high school teachers who both attended UT austin. One of the teacher has a master in biology from UT Austin, other is polysci bachelor’s degree

so after this semester i will have 61 credits
and i plan on taking 1 or 2 summer classes (most likely calc3 multivariable and microeconomics)

Applied to Cockrell School Biomedical Engineering (1st choice)
and
College of Natural Science Biology (2nd Choice)

7 of my current 46 completed hours are from early college start and are irrelevant they are intro to biotechnology and intro to computer maintainence (they dont count towards my gpa)

spencerNcollege: As far as I know, no one made an A. Most of the other kids in my class were lazy and unmotivated. Myself and one other girl were the only students in the class who could have made an A and neither of us did. I will say though, I wasn’t aware about her grading methods and statistics until it was too late. I busted my a** during the last two months of the semester and still came up short (final course grade was 87). If you bust yours NOW, I am confident you can pull it off. You have knowledge of her horrible grading ahead of time. For my last paper, I got a 90 on it and that’s because I started it two weeks ahead of time and took it to her and the writing center twice for revision. It’s strange, she’s actually a nice lady and a good teacher. I feel like I learned a lot with her, but her grading is just all sorts of f*$%ed up. Best of luck, I think you can pull it off. Go and explain to her your situation, you want to get into the McCombs and one of the best public schools in the nation. She likes diligent, honest students.

spencerNcollege: Also, if you do a presentation project in her class (I took her for Comp I, so I don’t know about Comp II), it’s a great opportunity to raise your grade. The presentation counted as much as an essay but she actually graded them fair. I did mine the night before, executed well, was articulate and got a 95.

wow been 1 full year I was on here after getting my acceptance letter to UT. I wish all you transfers the best of luck for Fall 2012 and hope ya’ll get in. Austin IS PHENOMENAL, your gonna love it!!

PLEASE: Do I stand a chance of transfering:

started my college life at Baylor. My parents forced me to study BIology and due to lack of interest I had a 2.25 GPA after 1.5 years and 37 hours. Then I transferred in to University of Houston studying English/History and now have a 3.868 GPA-the 3.868 is out of 15 hours and I will probably get to a 3.9 with the completion of my spring classes brining my total hours at U of Houston to 24. I am active in an History honors society, a chess club, and a film club and a few humanitarian organizations. I have written solid essays. DO I stand a chance in getting in as a double History/English major or either?
Thanks

@Ultimatesurge: I’m going to say probably not… at least for this semester. There definitely is an upward trend, which is great, but the cumulative GPA looks like it is around 2.8/2.9, which isn’t with UT’s standards. Now, if you apply next semester with around a 3.8-3.9 gpa average for the past year, then that will tell them that the 3.898 wasn’t a fluke, since you’ve only done ‘good’ for a single semester. I believe that you stand a great chance if you apply with about 30 hours of that 3.898 under your belt, and perhaps write about your parents forcing you to do biology as your essay, or at least mentioning it.

I posted earlier, but anyone care to chance me still?

Current school: UTSA / Freshman

Current GPA: 3.8 (Only B was in writing comp I)

Probably GPA: 3.9

First choice: Architectural Engineering (Cockrell)

Second choice: Undeclared

Courses: Calculus III, Linear Algebra, General Chemistry, Engineering Physics I and Lab, Differential Equations + some other basics

Very good letters of Rec, two from professors I had Fall '11

Credit: 7 AP from high school, 15 fall semester, and 13 this semester, so I will transfer with 35 hours.

Extra: Not many, a few clubs and volunteer

@ WCvolvo: Very very likely you’ll get in, but I’m not sure on your chances of getting into engineering. Since Mccombs is often touted as the hardest one of the bunch, and the average gpa to transfer it a 3.8-3.9… then you probably have good chances.

@awk525: This is the transfer thread, not the freshman acceptance thread

Architectural engineering is THE most selective department in engineering, even more so than biomedical. There just aren’t very many spaces available for some reason.

Hi guys.
Like many, I am a high school senior that has been capped. However, I don’t want to attend a feeder school for a year. I’ve been doing some research on the quickest way to get into UT Austin. I plan on transferring in the spring. On the transfer webpage it claims your an auto transfer admit if you:

1.Graduate in the top 10% of your class
2.Start college at a Texas community/junior college after graduating from high school
3.Complete the core curriculum at a public junior college or other public or private lower-division institution of higher education.(30 hours)
4.Earn a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5 on a four-point scale or the equivalent.

I’m currently not in the top 10% but I am 2 spots away from it. I’ve taken 4 dual credit classes at another community college which totals to 15 hours of transferable credit. I am planning to apply to Austin Community College Honors Program for the fall 2012 semester in the hopes of getting automatic transfer acceptance in the spring. From there, I will take an additional 15 hours which will be enough to transfer UT Austin for the spring semester when my dual credit hours are combined.

Sounds like a good idea? Will UT accept that I’ll be a freshman transferring after one semester?

its not impossible i had a friend transfer from acc to ut in one semester at acc after graduation. i was very surprised…it was like she basically got in right after high school

anyone wanna tell me my chances of transferring with my information i posted on the previous page?

Chance me please?
1st choice: Liberal Arts:Gov.
2nd: Undecided
Transferring from a Texas cc
GPA: 3.45
Classes taken: Calc 1, Phys 1, Comp 1, US Hist 1, US Gov, Sociology.
Currently taking: Calc 2, Phys 2, Comp 2, US Hist 2.
1 excellent essay, 1 good essay. Decent resume, lots of activities in HS but not related to my major.

What are my chances if I get 3 As this semester(3.56 GPA)? What about a 3.44?

kha1: with a 3.45 its hard to say…usually with a 3.5+ its a good chance in COLA(i hear that with a 3.5+ its almost guaranteed)

how many credits do you have right now? if its less than 30 there’s an even less chance.
if you make all a’s this semester you’ll probably get in.

if you dont get in for the fall you’ll get in for the spring if you make all a’s this semester for sure.

I have a 3.5ish gpa and am trying to get into EE. I’ve completed calc, chem, and 1 semester of physics at my current school. I’ve been hearing that I couldn’t transfer internally should I not make EE the first time. Is this true?
