Ozzy, it’s possible that they could also consider this semester. I’m not positive (so you should call them up and if possible post it on this thread) but you could ‘appeal’ and make them look at your spring grades. I will have 64 transferable hours this spring, but Blake told me that they would look at my spring grades as I’m currently finishing up required courses.
I don’t know if it applies in your case, but you never know! Tell us what you find out!

Ryder I have a 3.78 GPA and am also trying to transfer in to RTF. I sent in the final transcript 01/25/11. So we are pretty close in stats. Keep in touch! Let me know if you get in!!

I applied to UT’s COLA with 60 completed hours, a 3.94 GPA, and strong essays, as a CC transfer. Will not having letters of recommendations drastically hurt my chances for admission?

I applied with a cumulative GPA of a 3.38 to UTSOA with a pretty strong portfolio and 45 credits; I also graduated early with 29 credits and plenty of extra curricular activities and education honors (Distinguished Graduation Plan, etc.). I’m also a member of the Honors College at my current college (U. Houston) Do I got a shot? :)

Oh and my SAT was a 1310 (Math and Verbal) and final GPA will be a 3.5 or 3.6

I’m freaking out about my app. I’m pretty sure from reading all of your stats that they are just going to deny me right away without looking at my spring grades. I guess after that I will have to apply for an appeal but at that point most of the spots will already be taken and confirmed full. How is someone ever supposed to bounce back from a bad semester? I don’t understand how I can have bad grades in classes that were pre reqs to classes a made A’s in (such as my C in Pre-Cal but a B in Cal 1 and A in Cal 2) or classes that i took in high school that have no value toward any major (B in College Algebra) and after all those classes go through two straight semesters of 36 hours with all A’s and only be at the bottom of the consideration list if not just immediately tossed out? I mean right now UT is going to see I have a GPA of 3.06 and will most likely throw me to the side. Will my GPA after spring really matter that much when it is only a 3.29?

haha i found out my 87/100 gpa is 3.6 (foreign credit evaluation services)

do i stand a chance at COLA ( Economics) as an international transfer???

@jchap
I wish I could be more encouraging, but being accepted with a 3.06 is a reach. Aside from your GPA how was the rest of your app?

Hey transfer hopefuls!
Here’s my story:

Accepted into UTD for Fall 08 semester. Dropped out mid semester without withdrawing from classes because I was asked to fill-in and go on tour with a nationally-recognized band in the modern rock scene. Since I carelessly dropped out without withdrawing, my GPA at the end of the semester was a 1.0. Four months in, they found a permanent replacement and I knew it was best to go back to school and start raising my GPA for Osteopathic Medical School. I took 2 semesters (27 hours) at CCCCD to get my bearing (GPA:3.44) and then went back to UTD to do grade replacements for my F’s that I had made. I replaced the three F’s I had received with 2 A’s and an A+. That semester combined with fall semester '10 took me from a UTD GPA of 1.0 to a 3.78.

EC’s include:
-Health Occupations Student of America (Nationally Competitive Member)
-Alpha Epsilon Delta (National Member),
- Awarded Distinguished Member (2 out of 350 members got award) 40+hrs/semester
- North Texas Guard Games
- Certified Lifeguard for 2 years, CPR/AED/O2/BBP/WR certified
- Children’s Medical Center - 50 hrs 2 semesters
- International Service Learning
- 2 week medical mission trip in underserved areas of Lima, Peru
- Medisend International
- packaging medical supplies to be sent to developing countries
- Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure
- Custer Road United Methodist Church
- Plano Animal Shelter. The list goes on…

I understand that UT admissions take the average of the two courses for grade replacements, but I also know that they have a holistic approach towards viewing your application. So, how likely would it be that they acknowledge my 1.0 to a 3.78 as a key marker on my work ethic rather than looking at the GPA average for acceptance into COLA (Latin American Studies) or CNS(Biochemistry)? So, if you are in the same uncertain boat that I am in, good luck, as well as good luck to all who plan on transferring as well.

ddlsantos: What is your GPA with everything added together (repeats, F’s, A’s, EVERYTHING). They look at that GPA when making the decision. As for how they look at it, there was a guy in a similar position with a 3.1 GPA with everything (classes he didn’t withdraw from -failing - to classes he got A’s in) who got rejected from COLA on some other thread. Explain your situation in Essay C. I know UT says they look at the application holistically, but admission is like 90% GPA (from what I’ve heard from admittees). Contact UT and ask admissions. They may be able to provide more insight. Good luck!

Hello, I have a question about computer science reqs. So on their web site it says transfer students may apply for the entry-level computer science , which is the (CS 307, CS 315, M 408C or M 408L, and CS 313K) courses. I haven’t finished those yet and i applied for computer science. So my question is would i be denied automatically, or if accepted i will be put into the entry level major before computer science because there wasn’t an option in applytexas for Entry-level Computer Science

Pillowpants, contact admissions. It all depends on whether they are REQUIRED or PREFERRED for admission.

@ozzy
the rest of my app was i guess fine. I am the treasurer of the acct club and I am in ptk but that is all my ecs. My essays were excellent and i work 25 hours a week. but since my gpa is so low i have little confidence that they will even look at the essays or ecs

jchap
Hopefully they’ll wait for your spring grades before they make a decision. Good luck and keep us posted on how things go.
Also when i went to the transfer day at UT, they mentioned that they look at academic trend. Not sure how much of a impact it would make though.

I know that they consider that but i doubt it holds that much weight on their decision.
I know that they will deny me on my app so i will have to apply for an appeal and send in my spring grades but does anyone know how this works??

Fall 2011 Transfer Applicant:

Current College: San Antonio College

Current GPA: 3.93

First Choice: Economics

Second Choice: Mathematics, entry-level

EC: Founder and president of political organization

Additional: Essays were centered around my passion for R&D and technological advancement as it relates to clean energy (fusion, solar, etc…) and transportation issues. Talked about my desire to study economics/stats/industrial engineering and then use that knowledge to solve the world’s big problems.

I’m a high school senior going to Baylor for the first year. Can anybody tell me what classes to take and what gpa to get in order to get into McCombs? Any tips? Thanks!

3.8 GPA minimum with the required classes, macro/microeconomics and Calc 1 and 2.
A 4.0 should get you in though with all 4 REQUIRED classes.

Is there any way I can transfer to ut after just one semester at Baylor? Can I apply to school of education for spring semester?
