UT Austin 2011/12 Transfer Guide

collegejj
You need 30 hours before you can transfer to UT from another school. And there are more requirements for internal transfers to McCombs.

Hey guys, i am a little confused. The mccombs internal transfer said:

Twenty-four(24) hours in residence at UT-Austin
Must be completed by the end of the spring semester, summer courses taken after the June 1st deadline do not count.
Placement (credit by exam), correspondence, extension, pass/fail, or transfer hours will not work to fulfill the in-residence requirement.

So if i have 33 units/hour from a CC, thus this mean i have to take another 24 units/hours IN UT AUSTIN? Or i can just transfer anyway, since i have the 33 units/hours already?

Yes, you’ll need 24 hours AT UT to transfer to another school/college within UT Austin.

Is’t easier to transfer to public relations (school of communication) or sports management (school of education) for external transfer?

I understand that I have to take calc 1 and 2 in order to apply. If I took calc 1 in high school and got a 5 on the AP test, I don’t have to take it again in college right? Or should I just take it again and get an A… so it can benefit my gpa.

For mccombs*

“We’ve received all the items that are required to review and process your application. The Admissions Committee is currently reviewing your application for admission. Once the Committee reaches a decision, you’ll be notified by mail and your decision will be posted on this page.”
Good luck everyone!

“We’ve received all the items that are required to review and process your application. The Admissions Committee is currently reviewing your application for admission. Once the Committee reaches a decision, you’ll be notified by mail and your decision will be posted on this page.”

Yeah Ozzy, I got the same! Good luck to you and everyone! And make sure you post if you get in or not with basic stats :)

Are we not supposed to get that message if we don’t have 30 (completed) credit hours? Everything but my transcript from my current university is highlighted in blue. Obviously I can’t do anything about that now, but I sent everything else in…

I don’t think so as admissions only looks at your application after you meet the 30 hour requirement. What does it say on your status check? Everything sounds normal for you from my end…

Does every qualified transfer get the message at the same time, or just those who really are getting their stuff looked over at this moment?

DarkRyder, did you apply with at least 30 hours?
If I had to guess, I would say it would be by application date order, but NO WAY is it about qualifications. If you have over 30 hours and sent in all your stuff (with a good GPA) you shouldn’t worry too much. What are your stats?

I have the message. Everything was on time and I had the 30 hours and whatnot, I was just curious as to if everyone who has that message should be expecting a decision soon.

They need to hurry up. The sooner, the faster I can start planning and get an apartment.

@JammyD

Mine says “Our records indicate that we’re missing the documents listed below. If we do not receive these documents by the application deadline, we cannot make a decision regarding your application. Documents are processed as quickly as possible. Around the application deadline, it may take one to three weeks for your document(s) to appear on your Application Status page. Thank you for your patience. (Items that arrive by the deadline are considered on time, even if they do not appear online by the deadline.).” I sent in my transcript over a month ago.

Oh well, I did everything I was told to do, not too worried. Just checking.

i thought we weren’t supposed to find out until may?

I called and was told late March couple of weeks ago, so I assume soon. I just don’t understand why they’d wait till May or April as the earliest if we’d need to take care of housing and whatnot.

I’m sure they’ll notify the applicants who will no doubt get in. The one’s with lower GPA’s will deff’ know later.

Edit: “If an applicant’s qualifications are outstanding, he or she may be notified relatively early in the application cycle.” UT Site

Dudes, it all depends on how good an applicant you are, if you have all required courses, and if you have at least 30 transferable hours. The better/more you fulfill out the requirements, the better and faster you should hear back. Everyone should find out by late May (at the latest) and early April (at the earliest).

@Darkryder, you should call admissions and make sure. They can answer questions specifically revolving around you.

I just checked my status online and before all it said was this…
We’ve received all the items that are required to review and process your application.

Now it says that first line and this…
The Admissions Committee is currently reviewing your application for admission. Once the Committee reaches a decision, you’ll be notified by mail and your decision will be posted on this page.

I hope this means I will hear a decision soon.
Anyone else heard anything yet?
