UT austin 2017/2018 Transfer Thread

@CLATX123 Yea, not having one of the pre-requisites completed by the end of this semester is usually an automatic rejection.

@awesomesaucee thanks for the info. What are your thoughts on my chances with advertising? I attempted to switch my major preference to have Advertising 1st, but my application was already in review before I realized my mistake.

@awesomesaucee There is no typo :confused: It means as it says. By the end of the Spring 2018 semester, I will have completed Calculus II, so once I receive my grades, I can send my spring transcript which includes the last one of the prereqs. I will not have completed it before the END of the semester; I wonā€™t receive a grade before the end of the semester.

You donā€™t complete a course before the semester in which you are taking the course ends unless itā€™s one of those half-semester courses, and thatā€™s what I meant. I apologize for the misunderstanding.

I tend to agree with @awesomesaucee on this one. If you do not have the pre-reqs completed you will automatically be declined admission, thereā€™s just no way around it. The whole reason Iā€™m seeking transfer into government is because I had no idea you had to have Calc 1 and 2 done by the time you transfer/by the time you send in 2018 spring grades (when I signed up for community college classes in the Fall) for Economics. You could always try and call to change your choice of school but it might already be to late. If you get declined admission the safest bet would be to apply for an appeal, which might work if you explain your circumstances.

@awesomesaucee @sean191297 Nevermindā€¦ Typed out the comment before I saw the reply, please disregard it.

Does anyone know how the AP courses come into play? OSU due to my AP calculus score and assessment test allowed me to skip those courses. I got to go directly into accounting 101.

@sean191297 Oh okay. When I read ā€œI will not have it completed by the end of the semesterā€ I thought you meant when the end of the semester comes, it will not be completed. Sorry for the misunderstanding

@UTtransferOSU I would try calling and asking because UT is very selective with the AP credits they accept.

What if one of my pre-req is an AP credit ?

claiming a pre-req with an AP credit shouldnā€™t be a problem at all.
The hours get included but not the letter grade. It should say ā€œCRā€ on your official transcript

@prayingUTGuy01 Yep. Make sure the course you received credit for is listed on the transcript you send

Thanks @Thompson2688 Yes I sent in an email. As I am taking macro this summer, pretty sure I will have to submit an appeal with that. So if I need to take another calculus I will. Just sucks OSU based accounting degree plan is so different than UT. 57 hours at OSU that I submitted doesnā€™t match those prerequisite at UT.

@UTtransferOSU It is pretty dumb why UT is so selective with their credits. I understand theyā€™re trying to become a better university but itā€™s just seems very specific.

@awesomesaucee are you currently at UTD? If so, Iā€™m in the exact same boat as you as far as where Iā€™ll end up next year.

@UTtransferOSU
If you dont have the pre-reqs for McCombs, your application wont even be considered.

TBH, I dont think submitting an appeal to take a pre-req class over the summer will work but itā€™s worth a shot at least

Iā€™m in the same situation as you, iā€™m taking engineering physics 1 and calc 2 this semester but have over 24 hours. Iā€™ve heard that if you have over 24 hours, it is likely they will make the decision before you can send in spring grades, however I think the requirement is only that you will have it completed at the end of the spring, and can still be accepted before sending it in.

@brz160030 Iā€™m not there currently, but Iā€™ve already been accepted

@jbengineer Did you send in your spring transcripts? I know I had the option to do that and it only showed the classes as in progress.

@Thompson2688
I sent in my transcript that had my spring classes shown as in progress too, but iā€™m pretty sure if you have over 24 hours thereā€™s a good chance they make the decision before you receive spring grades
