My prediction (though I’ve been wrong in the past here, lol) is a mid week notification of a Friday release date.

In my opinion though, the numbers are relative. If the early pool is stronger than past years, there will be similar, if not slightly higher numbers. However if the applicant pool is basically the same, or weaker, of course numbers will be lower. I don’t think it’s fair to make that generalization without further evidence.
@jamesjunkers lol you just seemed to be knowledgeable. And basically I was wondering if you put any truth to article posted above saying there will high deferral rate this year.

I have a good feeling that we will be notified soon; if not before Friday, then on Friday. This is just a feeling though. I could be totally wrong.
In one of Dean J’s comments on instagram, she said that there are 14k-15k applications for the early round. However, all the other articles, such as the Examiner one posted earlier, say 16k+. Just thought this was interesting. Could mean nothing or it could mean that a combination of the Rolling Stones article + incomplete apps + withdrawals from those who got into their ED schools resulted in a 1k to 2k decrease in applications from the early numbers. We won’t find out until decisions are released, but again, just something to ponder over. If it really is in the 14 thousands, then it could mean a decrease from last year’s 14819 applications.

Dean J says the Friday decision release is just a trend and not a rule. She also says that she can remember decisions being released not on a Friday in the past few years.
Wow I kind of wish I hadn’t found this thread…you all seem like lovely people, but I wasn’t expecting a decision until the last few days of January and now I’m stressed out about a potential decision this week! I am OOS from New Mexico so I know my chances aren’t great but UVA is an incredible school and I’d be so grateful for the chance to attend…I know you can all relate so best of luck to everybody!
IIRC, when I went back and looked at the last 4-5 years I found all Friday except for one either Wednesday or Thursday.
Worst case scenario, we’ll know in 11 days. I know it’s difficult to be patient now, but it might help if you just focus on that date instead of worrying about what the date might be. 11 days really isn’t very long, and I know we can all get through

I’m more concerned with my territories than the overall app number. Once the total app number hits a certain point, you just put your head down and read if you’re an admission officer in the trenches.
My mid-year is still on the to-do list, but I know my first-quarter grades were sent to another school. Does this mean that they weren’t sent to UVA? I feel like my counselor would’ve sent them to all the schools I’m applying to if she sent them to one.

@benzy50 Thing is though, I didn’t tell her to send them so I’m not sure if it was just that one school that needed them.
First quarter grades and different from mid year grades. I suspect UVA has your first quarter and are waiting for mid year like most other students who are just finishing up their first semester. As dean j said don’t worry about the to do list if it just says mid year grades. My understanding is it will remain AS IS even after acceptance or derreral as a reminder to send them. Then once MID YEAR grades are in it will change.
