UW Winter 2015 transfer thread

Glad to hear it! @UWchancemeh and @recycle15‌ Congratulations OFFICIALLY :slight_smile: I am still waiting but contacted admissions. They were nice enough to confirm my suspicion :)

@recycle15‌

Congratulations! Go dawgs!

@socalsea‌

Great, congratulations to you as well “officially”!
I just remembered the letter is sent across the pacific for you haha.

My packet came today. I’m surprised at a time where I can electronically apply online, they don’t have an online enrolment tool. I’m ready to enrol and register for both orientation and an appointment with a councilor to start enrolling into classes. I want to charge headfirst through the wall, but they just keep doing what slow enrollment process. From late notification period mail in only forms. The UW seems not he too concerned getting new students.

Congrats guys! Nothing in the mail today. But we’ll see what happens in the next wave. When is your deadline to confirm? Isn’t that also the same date when they send the next batch?

@uwchancemeh @socalsea congrats to both of you!! So excited that most of us who were posting early on this thread got in. I’ve jumped through all my acceptance hoops and registered for orientation, just have to find a sublet and wait to register. Alot of the classes I was hoping for are already closed or close to closing so by the December Orientation meetings all that will be left will be the scraps. Kind of strange…most of us are Juniors ready to enter our major and need certain classes in a certain order, and yet we are registering last, even after freshman. On a brighter note, once I had all my I’s dotted and T’s crossed my financial aid was offered within days…although not as good as I had hoped. :(

@justin3co‌ my deadline is December 1st

@dcwolfe‌

I totally agree. I’m assuming that another packet will roll in once they receive our $300 payment.

@justin3co‌

Hang in there! My letter was postmarked on November 17, 2014. The deadline for this batch is December 1, 2014.

@Husky1995‌

Yeah, that’s what I heard. My friends who are already attending UW told me that they’re struggling to find classes!
Btw, does UW send out a packet regarding orientation dates after paying the $300 fee?

Holy cow there are quite a few hoops to jump through! They won’t let us register online for advising and orientation until after they process the NSEOF. You’d think that we could pay online with a credit card, but that would be too easy.

Everything about orientation including registration and dates is online for those wondering!
Also, you don’t to wait until orientation for your credits to show up. My credits have transferred over and they appear on my unofficial transcript.

Anyone know of any decent apartments around UW?
I have looked into DD Culp and Kennedy so far.
Preferably a 1BR and in U-District.
My price range is anywhere from $1300 and below.
Thanks.

@UWchancemeh‌ Check out Helix and Ellipse. They’ve got a few 1 BR and studio options within your price range.

Got my letter yesterday!
@UWchancemeh try looking at APEX Sunrise apartments as well

@socalsea‌

That’s awesome! :smiley:
Will do! Thanks. I live like an hour south of Seattle, but each time I go there I feel like I’m in a whole new state haha.

@UWchancemeh‌ I hadn’t got anything back since I sent in my fee, but it showed up as paid on my tuition statement, so I registered for an orientation. After that you get an email with a link for everything to do before orientation.

Ooh okay! My check is expected to arrive on Monday, so I’ll have to wait until next week to do anything. Did you already register for classes? @nmparris‌

@UWchancemeh‌
Not yet. When I went through the orientation checklist it says you can’t register until your orientation session :(

@nmparris‌

Ahh I see.
I heard a lot of the classes are full -,-"

@UWchancemeh‌ -Don’t worry too much about full classes. Keep an eye on them as orientation gets closer and sign up for Notify UW. It will let you put in the SLN of classes you are interested in and text you when a spot opens up, which happens a lot as people drop and shift classes. Just make sure when you do get a notification you jump on it right away as everyone on the wait list gets it too. Also, email professors and ask if they are talking overflow, but make sure you express sincere interest. Doing both of those things got me into all the classes I wanted for my first quarter.

I’ve been following this thread for a while, so stoked and hopeful to see that an OOS transfer got in! @socalsea what do you think differentiated you as an OOS 4 year transfer, or helped you get in this time around? Do you think a lot of phone contact expressing interest makes a difference? Or do you think your personal statement was stronger this time around? I am going to apply to UW for Fall 2015 and am OOS as well so I’m curious!

@browneyedgirl95 I definitely think it was my personal statement. I had previously applied for Fall 2015 and was rejected. The rejection definitely made me rethink my personal statement and work out all the kinks. I do believe that a good personal statement is of significant importance. Good luck next school year!
