I got an email yesterday from my counselor at BC and she said, “At this time, we are reviewing the deposit statistics as of May 1st. It appears we have reached our enrollment goals for each undergraduate division. Unfortunately, I am less than optimistic that we will be able to admit students from the waiting list. I should have more information by the end of this week. You are welcome to email me and request an update”

But this could mean a few things:
a.) I am just low on the list therefore my chance is very unlikely
b.) They are almost at their goal

But what my guidance counselor at my school told me, is that you have to see if people decide not to go to BC because they got off a wait list somewhere.

Fingers Crossed for everyone! I will let you know what she says on Friday/Next Week!
& to anyone taking AP’s good luck!

If that’s true, than I just wish BC would notify us all so we can figure out our plans for next year. I hate not knowing where I am going to end up… that’s what’s most annoying for me at the moment and not the fact that I haven’t gotten into BC.

Correct. It’s called ‘summer melt’ in the world of admissions.

Most likely the latter, b. But it really doesn’t matter. If you are still interested, follow her instructions, and e-mail her about your continued interest:

My D was on the Stanford waitlist thinking they’d take their historically typical 15-30. Instead, Stanford had a 73.4% yield and not only took no one from the wait list but “over”-enrolled (although I think that was their intention) 80+/- in a class of 1780. That’s the largest class S ever has had. MIT took no one from their list. My guess is the Ivies will be about the same. So my guess is you may see very little movement from schools like BC where some of those waitlisted students may have committed.

Wash U at St Louis sent me an email today about how their Class of 2016 of full and won’t be taking anyone off the waitlist. 2 years running smh…good luck for the BC waitlist everyone!

Agh, I just wish they’d let us know already! Boston College is my top choice and hearing that they may not accept anyone off the wait list is frightening…

They are coming out on a rolling basis I think. That’s what it sounded like when I talked to admissions. They said it would all be resolved within the next 1-2 weeks, so I take it that means my the end of next week pretty much everyone should know.

I’m 10 minutes away from BC and nothing in the mail or any change on Agora. I think at this point best not to be too optimistic…they said it’s highly unlikely they’d take anyone, and even if it would be an extremely small number. Oh well, such is college admissions.

I am from South Florida, also waitlisted at Notre Dame. Almost fell out of my chair when I saw the envelope. Had no expectation of admission based on what I had read!
