Who is going to Santa Barbara, mostly for sure? Tell a little about yourself!

Wilson High school? Hearing that name brings up bad memories.. Your tennis team kicked our asses this year. Hoohooooo

someone make a facebook group for CC freshmen class going to UCSB

Hey Paula,

I also play water polo and swim. I am planning to play intramural water polo at UC Santa Barbara. I go to Miramonte High School in Orinda. Can't wait to see you at Isla Vista so that we can hang out. I also hope you will join the intramural water polo program at UCSB it sounds like a lot of fun.

My name is Juraj, I know my name is weird it's Croatian for anyone who's wondering. I'm 6'4 about 190 lbs. I'm athletic, I like to play basketball, swim, water polo, pretty much anything. I like to party once in awhile but I will not be at Isla Vista on every weekend......okay maybe, we'll see. I will be in the college of letters and science. I'm a pre-bio major, after I will probably major in aquatic biology. Scuba Diving is my favorite hobby. I can't wait to meet all of you!

i am definitely going to try scuba diving!

I agree about the Facebook thing! I'd do it myself, but I really suck at using it...

Well, I'm a 5'5" Asian male going into UCSB as a very intimidated CS major from Bakersfield. Not much of a partier myself, although not antisocial either. People describe me as "chill" and I think that would be a good description of me, rather than "crazy." I like to play video games, but I hope to be taking up some new hobbies once I'm over there! Surfing seems cool, although I can barely swim haha. Haven't ridden a bike since I was a little kid! Although mountains seem cool to me; I've always wanted to go camping or hiking or something of the sort. Hopefully I can find someone to show me around!

omgosh l1l_v!!
What are the chances there'd be another cg member on here!! hahaha =) YES, I am going to the glendora show this saturday!! =) My name is ashlee if you haven't figured out, so look for me in the shhs guard and hopefully we'll be able to meet! =]

Jurag,

You'd probably kick my ass at waterpolo. I only ever played JV, and only for about 2 years. I loved it immensely, but I'm not exactly the best. haha. (Although I did improve!) I think I'd be more of an inter-tube water polo kind of person. aha. We'll see; it depends how intimidated I end up being of the intramural level. Scuba diving sounds SO awesome! I did it once and it was a blast, taking lessons would be fun. I'll have to remember to do that.

ahah you guys are going to have a blast the first few weeks of ucsb. Super fun.

I'm black/17/f and I go to school in San Jose. I got into UCSB (it was my second choice, but I'm happy with it and NYU is way too expensive for this economy). I'm so very excited.

I think I can balance partying and studying...the only thing I'm afraid of is making friends because I can be a bit awkward at first, but besides that I think I'm not apprehensive about going to SB.

Plus it's four hours away from San Jose, which is amazing!

Oh and I'm majoring in Communications because I want to be a journalist.

hey! i'm 19, from denver, white, and a girl. i'm 5'11", have reddish/ brownish hair (day walker!), and i love to play sports.

i graduated from hs last summer to compete in freestyle skiing, which was fun :), but now i'm stoked to go sb.

i'll probably play im volleyball and lacrosse because i'm a pretty competitive person. i'll probably join a sorority, but not for sure.

i'm a work hard/play hard kinda girl (in that order), and that's what i intend to do :)

ps- for those of you who were asking about facebook, there's a class of 2013 group that has tons of info and people to meet.

UCSB Class of 2013 (Official Group) | Facebook

hey! i’m 18, female, 5’1’’ and i’m persian. i’m looking forward to sb, it wasn’t my top choice but i’m really happy/surprised i got in. i’m excited to learn how to surf, and i like parties once in a while, but no drugs for me. i plan on being a psych major. i like all kinds of music (indie, rap, pop). death cab for cutie is my favorite band. does anyone know what the music scene is like at sb? and i also love making new friends… i’m really social and outgoing.

I also live in So. Cal and I will be at the spring insight event on the 4th. so excited!

Hey everyone, I’m 18, 6’1" and live in Encinitas (near San Diego), about a 3 hour drive from UCSB. I plan on majoring in Computer Science. I checked out the campus last summer and loved it, seemed very laid back. Honestly I didn’t expect to get in, I applied to UCSB as a “reach school” and I am positive I’m going there. My hobbies would include watching movies, bodyboarding, tinkering with computers and some light gaming. And I will be attending the April 4th thing this weekend so hope to see you guys there.

My name is Jon, I didn’t want to go to UCSB at first, but since I slacked off and didn’t work at all in HS it was the best school I got into. However, I visited spring insight and fell in LOVE with the place… I’m definitely glad I’m going there. Anyways…
Stats: 3.83 gpa, 2090 SAT, 1400 (2 best subject tests) 18, male, white (dual citizen with Switzerland)

oh, and my build is 6’2" 160, blonde blue eyed, slim runnerish

Your stats are so similar to mine, XCMiler… high five! *****!

hey whatsup,

i’m a 6’3 Singaporean male majoring in pre-business economics. i applied and got in this year but unfortunately, i have to serve my country for two years. i’ll be attending UCSB as a 20 year old freshman!!

i actually really wanted to go to USC but i got rejected there. love LA, been there once had a blast. i’m hoping santa barbara will be just as funn. im a big city person and i like to partyy. i love the fact that ucsb is surrounded by beaches. i played basketball and volleyball for my school but it doesn’t seem likely that ill be playing as a Gaucho.

im so jealous of all you guys cuz you get to begin your UCSB experience in less than half a year!! ill be thinking about it the whole time in the army

Whats going on guys! I’m 5’6 Filipino male, Im from the valley, grew up in LA, hollywood, Santa monica, Venice beach so i know the whole hollywood club scene and concert scene form the key club, to the Avalon, to cinespace and to have fun at the beach!. As i have lived in LA i not only hang out with a filipino crowd only, i love meeting people of different ethnicities to learn perspectives of other cultures and languages, i can mix and mesh with people of all types as long as you like to have a good conversation about your views on life and all that.
I love to skate, snowboard, exercise, pretty athletic, i LOVE to be out in the sun, overall im a confident and happy person content with where my life is going right now. I have many friends that live up here already so finding a party network is not hard for me… I for one am very excited to meet a ton of new people on top of those who i already know here!
Everyone that i’ve met so far, for the MOST part, has been down to earth, and real up here. I went up for april 4th spring insight and i had a blast! On top of checking out the campus, i went to my buddies house and went to floatopia! That was quite the party for 10,000 people on the beach, Although it did make the community of ISLA VISTA look like a crazy rager from a movie. That might have turned off some parents from allowing their children to come to this school, but apparently the FACEBOOK event happened to land on the same day as Floatopia and Spring Insight.
Currently i am currently looking for housing, i might be living on a place on Del Playa, in the process of gathering up 5-6 roommates or we can fill the whole place up with 10-12 ppl i know we’d mostly be clean guys, not slobs who never clean the house, and are open to having roommates of any background as long as they are chill when we meet them. Anyways my names Jan and i definitely look forward to meeting all you cool peeps, I got accepted for the communications major at the moment but i think i might change my major to potentially biopsych. Anyways i think the mentality for most students who want to be successful here at SB is “Study hard all week and get **** done, then party your ass off on the weekend!”

If some of you are worried about not meeting the right people, add me on facebook Jan Fisico. I know plenty of people who like to get their work done, while partying on the weekends to blow off steam and to relax and still get GPA’s above 3.8. hit me up if you want any good info for places to eat! i love eating healthy, so Silvergreens is a bomb place in Isla Vista to eat, They are the first restaurant to serve you your own Nutricate Receipt. Which basically means they print out how many calories, grams of fat, grams of carbs, grams of protein you are eating with your meal! Very sick restaurant in my opinion for those who like to eat healthier and watch what they eat instead of tons of greasy crap… Although no one said Freebirds, or Bagel Cafe, or Super Cucas isn’t bad every now and then @ 2-4 am when ur walking home from the weekend rager! Stay safe everyone and hope to see most of you in the fall! I will be moving up in the summertime to take summer classes and work and meet new people up there.
From what people tell me, some have met their best friends while at SB or in any college for that matter in the summer session, as not as many students are there for the summer, and for the students who are there u get to hang out with people you normally wouldn’t and get to know cool things about new people. Alright then guys, pass around the free love and good vibes, and say hello to UCSB!
Sorry for all the writing! im still used my train of thought from my journalism class! its spring break i need to go to malibu right now to visit friends at pepperdine!

Hey, I’m a white dude named Jeff, I’m about 6’1" and let’s just say I could definitely lose some weight. Not athletic at all. I’m pretty mellow and definitely lazy… I can be social and the life of the party but I prefer to have a small circle of close friends and I tend to keep to myself. I’ve been called an introvert before  But I would say that I’m moderately social. I try to be a very kind and caring person, the world has enough negativity-I don’t need to add to it.

I’m entering as a pre-bio major… UCSD was my first choice, I was rejected. UCI was my second choice, I was rejected. So UCSB was my 3rd choice, and honestly I’m a little worried about going there because I’m more of a stay in and chillax than go out and party type. I shouldn’t have slacked off so much in high school  3.75 weighted GPA… ouch and 2160 SAT

I’m from San Diego and I went to Rancho Bernardo High School. I’m in my 4th year of band, I play trumpet, I did 1 year of choir, so I’m into music but I don’t plan on minoring or anything. I like indie rock, electronica, alt rock, etc. Really not into country. I’ve got Facebook and Myspace and what not… hit me up.

Hi, im a middle eastern girl, 5’1 and i am 90% sure i am going to UCSB (still have to visit UCDavis). I am from southern california and i dont know many people going to SB from my school or in general. I am not the crazy partying type, but i still like to have a good time. I am still unsure of my major, but it will most likely be engineering. I hope i will fit in at UCSB (because of the beach blonde stereotype, haha) and make alot of friends.
